I am running Windows Server 2008 and frequently there is a single process that spikes the CPU usage to 25% or more and causes a lot of slow down issues. The server is being used remotely by approx 30 users and if I don't spot this problem quick enough it gets very frustrating for them when working.

Is there a way to automatically monitor and report if this process becomes over active and causes problems? The actual process is an exe file that runs as part of a Web Application for PDA remote users.

I am currently running Windows Server 2008 on a system comprising of: Intel Core2 2.4GHz 8GB DDR2 64GB SSD O/S Drive 128GB SSD Data drive

My users connect via RDP and process everything on the servers (4 in total).

How many users could I have per server to maximise the usage of hardware whilst not hindering performance?

Users do not have access to the O/S, nor do they use email or browse the web. They can only access specific areas of our software package which isn't particularly memory hungry.

I have recently acquired a Cisco 2801 unit and I want to know if it is capable of acting as a fail over for a network. It currently has an ADSL WIC installed.

We currently run 6 Windows servers (4x Win2008, 2x Win2000) with TS access for our users. This runs over a cable modem connection. We also have an ADSL connection which we want to use as a failover should the cable connection go down.

My question is this: Can the 2801 we have be used to do what I require? If so, would it be difficult to set up, and are there any known complications with this kind of failover? If not, can anybody suggest an alternative?

I need to be able to restrict the amount of bandwidth used by SMTP port 25. Basically, we have a routine in our server software that will send out bulk faxes, not much data per fax but a lot of different faxes to send. This is done over SMTP to a fax relay. However, when a particularly large amount goes through, we notice a decrease in the performance on the server and the internet connection in general.

Does anybody know of any software that would allow me to set up restrictions on this process?

SMTP server is VPOP3 running locally on Windows Server 2000. The OS on the live servers are Windows Server 2000 and Windows Server 2008. The relay is external (interfax.net). We want to restrict everybody sending faxes. Other emails can be restricted also.
