I get a message when loading the ESXi installer, right after it initially loads modules, that "multiboot could not setup the video subsystem". Then, the screen goes blank. Usually, here the install screen is supposed to turn to a yellow background, while it is loading the ESXi installer.

I have to install ESXi via IPMI as this is a cloud provider. I dont have physical access to the machine to plug in a monitor, as some Googling has suggested.

The motherboard in this server is a SuperMicro X10DRU-i+, if that helps. Also encountered this issue with a Supermicro PIO-618U-TR4T+-ST031 motherboard.

I've installed the VCSA 6.0. Now, I'd like to add a second NIC to it and be able to access the vCenter Web UI from both networks. I've followed the steps here to add a second NIC to the vCenter and configure the IP address. http://easi123.4realit.nl/2015/12/add-a-second-nic-to-vmware-vcenter-server-appliance-6-0/

However, I can't access the Web GUI or the Desktop client from the outside network using the second address. I've also tried rebooting the appliance to make sure the web server sees that there are 2 networks. Can someone point me to the configuration or the firewall that needs to be changed to allow access from 2 different networks?

When I run the query "Show Engines" on this particular Linux host, it shows that the InnoDB storage engine is Disabled. Other storage engines (like MyISAM) are showing enabled.

What steps would I need to take to install/enable the InnoDB storage engine (even at a high level)? Would the procedures be different for different flavors of linux?

I recently put two new Windows 7 Professional machines into a dated network environment. The server is running Windows 2000 Professional (Workstation, not server) and I can't get the Windows 7 machine to connect to it. There is no domain for this network.

On the server (We'll call it data1, the Network share is shared with everyone (i.e., everyone who has a local account on the machine). When I go to connect to it on one of the Windows 7 machines, I get a prompt for a network password. I have tried all accounts on the server using the domain prefix like data1\user. But it doesn't connect - a "invalid username or password" error comes every time.

For a stopgap solution while I get this worked out, I built a new server of off Windows Server 2003. All machines can connect to it (Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 7).

Is it just that Windows 2000 is too old to connect to Windows 7? Thanks for your help.

Which is easier to scale later on - 1 server with a full LAMP stack directly on the OS, or 1 server running VMWare Server 2 with 2 VM's - one running apache and PHP, and the other MySQL.

The applications I will be running off of this are written in PHP, and use MySQL. Eventually, there might be a need to scale this up - and I'm wondering if that will be easier to do from a VM environment or a physical one.

I'm planning on using SLES 64bit as the OS - for both guests and hosts.
