On one of my servers (2008 R2) powershell refuses to run executables without extension, so typing cmd (or &cmd) in command prompt results in folowing error message:

The term 'cmd' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet

Invoking executable one of the following ways pops out separate window (which executes asynchronously in respect to parent). I've tried that in x86 version of powershell and in x64 one. I've tried -Noprofile argument. PATH seems to be OK. It includes System32 and all.

The only way I've managed to execute cmd inline form powershell is opening standard cmd.exe shell, executing powershell.exe from it and executing cmd /c echo test from it. Inception, huh?

What should I try next?

Is there any way to extend my Windows Server 2008 R2 software RAID5 volume by another drive or am I bound to recreate that volume from scratch?

I'm using mod_proxy to redirect requests of several sub domains of main one to corresponded servers running on the LAN. Long story short here is my config:

After Apache restart any request for .dev.enterprise.com/ ends up on http://localhost:8888/ Why so?

I'm using Windows Server 2008 software RAID volumes. So, recently I've started to receive error in System event log: "The device, \Device\Harddisk7\DR7, has a bad block."

Meanwhile volume in Disk Manager is marked as "Failed Redundancy". I could command to "Reactivate Volume" and it's starts to re-sync, but after a while it stops and returns to previous state.

chkdsk on failed disk do not help. What can I do besides removing, reformatting and restoring from backup? Thank you.

Update When I just offline one of the disks (#7 for instance), "Failed Redundancy" label mutates to "Failed", so removing disk and replacing it with empty one, I thing will not save the volume.

We have two DC in our network. Both now work in 2008 R2 mode. I want to remove the one, that was created first. Is it safe just to turn it off or should I do something to promote replica DC to be main one?

Just curious. "Cool" people in our company always use *.cmd while no one was able to explain the difference to me.

I need to setup publicly available computer to perform automatic log on using domain credentials when powering on. When it was not a domain member this option was available on control userpasswords2 panel, but after domain join this setting have gone.

Is there any way to accomplish this?
