Which VNC Server can I use to run graphical applications (i.e. X Clients) on a headless Debian Wheezy box?
Usually I don't need graphical applications on servers but from time to time there are applications (e.g. firmware update utilities) which sadly required a graphical interface.
I've build a custom linux kernel from the vanilla source tree using the deb-pkg target:
make deb-pkg
After that package has been built I've got several .deb files. However I'd like to upload those files to a private repository which is managed by reprepro. I need a .changes file for that. I could generated the changes file with
dpkg-genchanges
This in turn needs a .dsc file which I don't have.
How do I generated a .dsc (and .changes) file from a vanilla linux source tree from which I've build .deb packages using make deb-pkg?
I'm running a Linux server that - from time to time - faces heavy load and the conntrack table overflows. Since it's iptables firewall ruleset is very simple I'd like to turn it to stateless mode. I know that iptables can operate in stateful connection tracking mode and in a stateless mode.
My firewall rules are all in place I'm pretty sure that they are stateless but my question is how can I verify that the firewall is really operating in stateless mode?
I have a postfix mailserver with amavis as a content_filter setup successfully an now I wonder how I can monitor if clamav is working properly. The clamav logfile is empty and I can not see any trace that it is working. I don't have any clue that it is not working, I just want to be sure that is working properly.
So how can I monitor and test ClamAV to verfiy that it is working properly?
I have a Postfix mailserver with content filtering using AMaViS via the "content-filter" option of Postfix. Now I wonder whether it would be better to use AMaViS as a milter instead of the contet-filter approach.
Which approach is faster? / Which approach takes less resources? Which approach causes less trouble?
