I thought I've read somewhere that you can take a slice of RAM and turn it into a partition with a FS on it and everything. What is the relevant terminology and the tools to accomplish this?
I need this to seemlessly (from the POV of an application) optimize the access to some files.
Currently my distribution of choice (ArchLinux) has an automounting script like this:
KERNEL!="sd[a-z][0-9]", GOTO="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
But that will automount only partitions up to sdX9. I do have USB drives with 6 or more partitions (that is, starting from 5, up to 12, 13, 19).
All partitions have VFAT on them and have labels (the label is used for naming the mountpoint).
I have tried to modify it to:
KERNEL!="sd[a-z][0-9]+", GOTO="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
but that doesn't work.
So how to make it work for sdb5, sdb42 or sdb31337 likewise?

But it doesn't work either. If I leave the default rule, sdb5-9 are mounted properly.
Is it possible to run a full router on Xen's dom0 between a real (physical) LAN and the Internet, with ocasional domU's booting up as I need them?
What problems should I be aware of?
Any particular tips?
Is there any big performance hit, if the processor doesn't support hardware virtualization? (just for the dom0, not for domU's, which won't stay up for long anyway).
I want to have it "just in case". I know I will need the virtual instances, and when I need them, I want to create them as hassle-free as possible, without having to reboot the router every time.

However I've got a problem when trying to run
postmap -q example.org mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql-virtual-box-domains.cf
I get:

However I am able to connect to mysqld via mysql:
mysql -u mailuser -p, with the password "foo". The .cf looks like this:

What could be the problem?
