I started chkdsk H: /F /R /X as admin on a SATA harddisk (WD Caviar Green 1TB) that I mounted using an USB adapter.

After a while the operation timed out with the message

The specified I/O on \Device\Harddisk3\DR60 was not
completed before the time-out period expired.

The drive has severe problems but I managed to get most of the data from it copying them in small chunks. I want to repair it now using chkdsk to see if I can et a couple more files from it. The drive has photos of a friend of mine and they are important to her.

My question is if there is any way I can repair the harddrive to the point where I can recover the files I may have missed.

Is everything done that can be done once chkdsk times out?

I am interested in what physical stats are available for cable modems and what they say about that modem.

I can think of the that sound important to me:

• The ability to cope with strong or weak signals. Usually modem connections suffer when the signal is either too strong or too weak. There has to be an input range of the cable signal strength.

• The ability to filter the signal. Depending on the network there may be noise near the actual signal band so a good modem would be able to filter that. In addition the modem could work in poor network designs where there is a reflection of the signal overlapping with the signal.

I am currently experiencing some problems in my network and I think it may be due to strong variation in signal quality.

What are the physical core stats for a modem and how would they typically be visible in a datasheet?

I have Three drives plugged into my QNAP and assigned to Storage Pool 1 I added a fourth hardd rive into my QNAP and I want to add it to Storage Pool 1.

I opened the Storage Manager. I opened the Storage Pools Menu. I clicked on Expanding Pool. I went through the Doalog options (Adding new hard drive, select drive 4, reading the summary). The step i am currently stuck on is the Expand Button.

There I am asked if I am sure that i want this. All the data on the hard drive(s) will be erased. Are you sure you want to continue? OK or Cancel.

I am not sure because i do not know what data will be lost. All Data on Hard drive 4 can be lost (it is empty). All the Date on the existing three drives in the storage pool has to be maintained. They are my only copy.

How does expanding work? Will i loose all data on drives 1,2,3,4. Or will i only loose data on drive 4?

I found similar questions to this one with good answers. But data is too important to not go the extra mile and ask if someone know this specifically for QNAP Hardware. Other Questions: 1,2
