The Disk Management MMC snapin has a "Offline" function:
Once used, a disk shows as Offline, with hover text "This disk is offline because of policy set by an administrator".
However, if the OS does not boot due to the contents of the disk this state can not be reached.
How can this be done to an offline system, using the recovery/Windows PE environment?
A Windows Server 2008 R2 server is configured to collect Windows Event Logs, via a source initiated event subscription.
The subscription appears to be active but no events are collected.

We're considering a centralising our RADIUS infrastructure but I can't find any information about acceptable latency between the Authenticator (ie. switch or WLC) and the Authentication Server.
Would 100ms roundtrip work well without issues, what about 200ms?
Quite some time ago I installed Redmine 2.1.2.stable using Helicon Zoo feed. And it's been working great (minus multi-minute app pool warm up times).
What's the best way to upgrade to the latest version? The feed was last updated 2013-01-29 and is on 2.2.2, but I can't find any facility in the WebPI for upgrades.
Using SQLlite for storage, if it matters.

Currently I'm using LOCAL SERVICE as the user account for various regular tasks, and was wondering if it was possible to use a Virtual Account instead.
Task Scheduler seems to reject NT SERVICE\ style account names.
I know it's possible because sleep works in HyperV under Windows 8.
edit: I know this is probably not "supported".

I'm trying to get as much as I can into GPOs so that new machines are as effortless as possible once joining the domain.
One thing I always do on a new machine is add a UTC and US clock.
What's the best way to roll this out? Doesn't need to be mandatory, preferences are fine.
Due to limitations of an app I've got to run, I've got a server auto logging in on boot with the app on auto start. Remote desktop at my leisure to check on its status, etc.
Gross, but it works.
Now I've tried out RemoteApp which seems to work ok (ie. remotes the notification icon, balloons...) except for the fact that it creates a new session (and therefore instance of my app) - this confuses the heck out of app and it means that if I was using 'full' remote desktop I lose all my state.
"Restrict each user to a single session" doesn't work.
IIRC "Windows XP Mode" uses RemoteApp and it doesn't seem to have any trouble switching between modes.
So how can I connect to a running app?
