We currently have a 100MB down/100MB up network connection provided by our Internet Service provider. The most we were able to get with this router was 20Mbps down. I believe the issue could be caused by the limited MTU on the E2000 router which cannot go any higher than 1500 MTUs. Could the cause of the slow internet connection be the router and what could replace the router?
Ishmael's questions
Our 64-bit windows server can no longer access the internet although it is a web-server that is hosting webpages accessible by the internet. Since this dilemma the server can no longer receive windows updates or Symantec virus definitions.
We have checked our firewalls so nothing is blocked. Any insight on why this issue happened would be appreciated.
Also the server is running IE6 which we have been trying to update.
I am able to ping other servers in the same subnet except the gateway yet the domain controller in this subnet cannot ping the gateway either yet able to access the internet.
Is there a way to disable the Adobe Flash update prompt?
I have tried saving settings to mms.cfg in the appropriate folder (\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash) yet this does not yield positive results.
I need to disable the updater since Power Users get prompted for this message and they do not have the rights to install since we control software distribution.
We have a website setup as a trusted site which is set by group policy. Despite this being a trusted site IE8 still displays the Download File toolbar pop-up instead of file download dialog box.
This used to work in IE6 with the same group policy settings however it is not working in IE8. Is there another setting that has to be in place to prevent this pop-up for trusted sites?
When I try to deploy IE8 group policy to users that already have IE8 installed the group policy object uninstalls and then re-installs IE8.
Is there anyway to prevent this?
Is it possible to backup a server with just a remote agent on the guest operating system on a Server 2008 R2 host server? If it is possible would there be any major overhead?
I understand Symantec Backup Exec 2010 allows you to backup VHDs directly using the specialized agent for Microsoft Virtual Machines, yet, I need a temporary resolution until our Exchange server is upgraded to 2010/2007 from Exchange 2000
I have a user that has rights to change permissions within a certain folder on a Windows Server 2003 network share. Although I grant this person the rights to change permission and ownership this person cannot change any permissions.
The network share is also set to allow everyone full control. (I understand it is bad practice yet this is how it was first configured)
Is there any reason why this domain user cannot modify permissions on the folder and files they create?
I currently have a 2200 VA UPS unit (APC Smart-UPS 2200XL) in my rack and may need a 3000 VA unit to be able to load additional servers. Under my assessment, based upon whitepapers for each server, the current can achieve a max of 1335 VA yet adding additional servers would push the limit to 2344 VA.
Should I consider testing the load under the old UPS or should I just utilize the 3000 VA UPS (APC Smart-UPS 3000XL)?
