I've been googling all over the place and haven't found a good way to do this. I'm hoping that someone out there has done something like this.

I have Polycom 650's and 331 deployed to my users via a FreePBX (Asterisk) server. Works like a champ. What I'm running into are users not having any idea what their extensions or DID's are. What I'd like to do is put the DID and extension number in the display name and have it scroll on the phone display. Is that possible?

Running FreePBX with Asterisk 10.

Here's what I have.

Dual homed FreePBX box. Everything works like a champ. eth0 is external. eth1 is internal. SIP provider is at 216.234.x.x.

I'm trying to configure iptables to allow everything from eth1 and lo. But only allow traffic from 216.234.x.x

Here are the current iptables rules I've added.

-A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT
-A INPUT -i eth1 -j ACCEPT
-A INPUT -s 216.234.x.x/32 -j ACCEPT
-A OUTPUT -j ACCEPT

As soon as I hit enter on...

iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 - j DROP

Inbound audio stops working.

Then when I delete that rule it works again. I'm at a loss.

I'm sure this is an easy routing question, but I've been banging my head over it for hours now.

responds fine to pings on private interface. can route to the internet. But I can't get it to respond to pings on it's public interface.

This is a FreePBX server. The route to the 216.234.x.x is to my sip provider.

I'm a bit of a linux idiot. I've searched every linux route q and A possible but I think I'm not looking for the correct one.

EDIT. I only want SIP and SSH to go in and out of the public interface. Otherwise, everything else should go out the private interface.

I'm using VMWare ESXi 5 and had a 2 TB RAID 5 setup on an HP DL360 with a P400i RAID card. I added two more 1 TB drives and using the SmartStart ACU, added the drives and expanded the logical disk.

Now after booting back to ESXi, the server boots, but lists no available persistent storage. I've rescanned multiple times to no avail: the Datastore doesn't show up.

I booted to GParted and the 1.8TB partition shows up, but it shows as unknown. Anyone have any good ideas?

EDIT: Final Solution

So after much gnashing of teeth, it was fairly simple to solve.

I purchased an eSata 2 TB external drive and a PCI eSata card for my server.

I then used Clonezilla to image the current partitions to my new external drive. You have to check "don't check drive sizes" in advanced mode, otherwise it will yell at you for have a smaller drive.

For some reason my PCI card wouldn't boot on my HP server, so I hooked the drive up to another desktop I had, booted to VMWare, and copied the vmdk's to another drive.

I'm going to blow out the RAID config and then create 1.5TB logical drives.

I'm not what you would call a network engineer by any stretch, but I was given a 2948G-L3 switch to use. I'd love to add it to the network, but can't figure out a config that will let it do plain L2 switching. I've googled all sorts of configs but nothing seems to work.

Having issues getting RT to run on Ubuntu. I followed the steps here but am running into a problem where apache doens't start after pasting in the following lines in the sites-available/default file.

Include /etc/request-tracker3.8/apache2-modperl2.conf
RedirectMatch ^/$ /rt 

The apache2 error log has the following line.

Anyone know of a good way to limit an EXMERGE (to pst's) to only one mailstore? Our exchange server has a few thousand accounts but I only want to export about 80 that are all contained in one mailstore.

Have a small business client that wants to move their current file share to the web. Specs are as follows,

20 to 30 GB of space, file sizes are normal (nothing more than 50 to 100 mb)

3 users

ideal solution would be exact same functionality as windows explorer.

CHEAP!!! But not super cheap. I would like to keep it around $20 per user per month.

I've explored a bunch of solutions, but they are all a bit on the complicated side.

SharePoint is a good solution, but it's a bit too complicated and a bit on the expensive side. Mostly because they don't want to spend any time cleaning up their files to get down to 5 or less GB of total storage.

EDIT 2 They have a 16/2 MB cable modem from Comcast. It screams up and down.

I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to Cisco stuff. I can usually figure out most firewalls and understand netmasks, IP addressing, DMZ's, NAT, etc. But for some reason I just don't get Cisco ASA's. Both CLI and the ASDM.

Long story short, I'm looking for a good site or someone that can provide me a basic config file with comments so I can understand it.

And yes, I have tried RTFM.

I've been doing a bit of investigation and I can't seem to figure out if I can push a new ringer profile to my Blackberry users. I have about 45 users connected to BES 5.0. Specifically, I'm trying to create an Extra Loud profile for everyone to use. (Trust me, it's probably easier for me to spend 10 hours figuring this out rather than try and teach them how to create a new profile)

Anyone done this before?

I'm using Exchange 2003, Outlook 2007/2003. Is there a way to push a set of contacts to users? I would prefer to not use the GAL and I really don't want to send csv files for them to import.

Any help is appreciated.

If someone has a great method of managing contacts with a mobile workforce, I'd love to hear that as well.

Is anyone out there running predictive dialers or Call Center type products on Asterisk/Trixbox. I'm looking for vicidial type functionality. The best way to characterize it would be political campaigning or marketing surveys.

Also, I really am just trolling for good or bad news either way on the product.

As I don't really have a problem per se, this might need to be marked Community Wiki.

About to install BES 5.0 and have a SQL 2008 install that I can point it to. It looks like RIM doesn't officially support SQL 2008, only 2005, so am wondering if any server fault peeps have it running and if there are any hiccups.

Having an issue installing the CCMsetup client on desktops. The CCMSetup makes it to the PC, files are there, it gets added to the services for automatic start, it starts, but quits almost instantly.

Logs on the desktop show a entry like this.

EDIT: Firewall is off on both client and server.

I've just run into an issue with my exchange OWA. It returns a blank page with the url string https://www.xxxxxxxx/&reason=0.

Nothing in the logs gives me any good reasons.

Here's what I've done so far; 1) reinstall Exchange roll-up 7. 2) recreate virtual directories. 3) reboot. (this was mostly a shot in the dark, but what the hell)

Exchange via rpc/https is still working great.

Anyone run into this before?
