I have a windows server 2008 r2 with a domain where windows 7 desktop pcs connect to.
There are only 3 programs I'd like to display on the start menu for users.
All client computers have the same image, are on windows 7, have the same programs, and are all apart of the domain.
How can i use a GPO to remove all other programs displayed on the start menu and only display this one?
I have multiple java-based applications which produce statistics on how long method calls take.
Right now the information is being written into a log file and I analyse performance that way. However with multiple apps and more monitoring requirements this is being becoming a bit overwhelming.
I am looking for an application which will collect stats and graph them so I can analyse performance and be aware of performance degradation.
I have looked at Solarwinds Application Performance Monitoring, however this polls periodically to gather information. My applications are totally event based and we would like to graph and track this accordingly.
I almost started hacking together some scripts to produce Google Charts but surely there are applications which do this already. Suggestions?
I have a series piped greps, awks and seds which produce a list of numbers, one on each line. Something like this:
1.13
3.59
1.23
How can i pipe this to something which will output the average, max, and min?
I took a backup of a directory which has a number directories and files inside them. Recently some files have gone missing. I would like to just move over the missing files.
I prefer moving files instead of just copying as space is a premium on this particular box and the files are quite large.
How can i achieve this without a GUI and on the command line?
Q1. If a computer had two NICs, lets say windows, on which interface would HTTP traffic (or any for that matter) go out on.
Not sure how the routes table would look like.
Q2. If one of the NICs link becomes unresponsive, would traffic be automatically routed to the other NIC?

All major data carriers these days use fiber optic links these days. And data transmission occurs at the speed of light, is that correct?
If data transmission does indeed occur at the speed of light, is it also correct to assume that data transmission will never ever be faster?

Can someone recommend me a linux flavor to install an oracle database on? I have no preferences for any flavor.
Is there flavor which is easier than others? Or has less issues?
