I'm starting to get emails from various services of this kind:

In the old days, when it was just IPv4 I would recognise my own IP-address fairly quickly. This kind of notification are a lot less helpful.

Are there any tricks to find out if the IPv6 address is mine?

Is there any systematics (patterns) to IPv6 addresses that might help?

My system's logs are being swamped by these messages:

wpa_supplicant[390]: RRM: Ignoring radio measurement request: Not RRM network

I have searched extensively; I've even found the sources for wpa_supplicant here: git clone git://w1.fi/hostap.git
But I'm not fluent in C and have no clue how to proceed. Can anybody suggest how I can suppress or avoid these messages or switch off this functionality?

EDIT: This is on Raspbian (Debian flavor for Raspberry Pi) Buster, which has wpa_supplicant v2.8-devel. It is communicating with a Fritz!Box AP; I mention this because I'm getting the feeling that could be relevant.

I was thinking of mirroring a couple of directories across a number of (Linux) servers on my local network.

Google gave me this article. But it is almost 10 years old. So, I image the state-of-the-art may have changed a bit.

I would appreciate an update. Are there any new alternatives?

I made a typo:

Now I have a file that is called ^C (ctrl+C)!! When I use ls I just see a questionmark (probably due to the locale?)

I want to remove this file. I try mv and when using tab-completion it shows me:

^C/  bin/

Obviously I can't type a ^C :-/ How do I remove this file?

Using lftp to upload files to a remote server from two computers on my network. Using the exact same code this works fine on one and doesn't work on the other. Transcripts of a problem session and a successful session are shown below. The error that I get is:

Certificate verification: certificate common name doesn't match requested host name

Googling this error finds a solution that seems to work for most people (using: set ssl:verify-certificate no). But as you can see in the transcripts below this doesn't work for the "problem computer".

Because both computers use the same DNS and router to get on the internet I can only assume that this may be caused by a different setting on the problem computer. Would love to get suggestions for stuff to check other than lftp settings.

I'm afraid I made a kind of a booboo.

While performing an apt-get upgrade (there were about 160+ packages in queue) I accidentally logged out, thus aborting the upgrade midway. Now I can't restart the upgrade.

apt-get upgrade says there are no packages to upgrade...

apt-get update gives errors:
