Massive iSCSI/PXE noob here.

I have a iSCSI target on my Synology NAS that I have attached in OSX using VirtualBox. I have the Ubuntu Server install ISO mounted on the Synology at /volume1000/IsoMount/

Can I install Ubuntu Server to the iSCSI target using PXE without routing traffic through the VirtualBox client machine? I'm currently remote on a shoddy internet connection and wanted to get the process started while I was away.

Is this even possible or an uneducated pipe-dream?

I have FTP access to an Apache server on linux to upload files so that they can be downloadable from the web.

I recently was granted SSH access for extra permissions and figured that it would be quicker to download the files directly to the server, instead of downloading them to my machine then FTPing to the server.

When I downloaded a file using SSH to the server, and then placed it in the public_html directory, it was not visible from the web. The permissions (from SSH and the FTP client) were the same as all the other files that are visible, but it was not visible in the directory listing, and if I tried to type in the filename into my browser I would get a 403 error.

Obviously, when I FTP a file to the server something else happens that makes it web visible, that I am not currently privy to.

What am I missing that is causing the file to be invisible from the web? How can I fix it?

When you install a program in Virtual XP it becomes available in the Windows 7 start menu like so:

Program Name (Virtual Windows XP)

How do I create a custom application in this fashion so that I can access an XP system application like Command Prompt or Windows Explorer?

I have SQL Server 2005 Express Edition installed on my Windows 7 host machine, and I would like to be able to access that from a Windows XP Virtual PC.

This way, I can develop using Delphi 7 on XP alongside Visual Studio projects on Windows 7 which both use the same data.

EDIT: At this point I have only installed the Windows XP Virtual PC and Delphi 7 within it. I cannot ping the host machine and all the host drives are mounted using:

//tsclient/share/

So my question is - How do I see the host machine's SQL 2005 Server from a Windows XP Virtual PC?
