I have a HP DL380 G7 server with a quad intel expansion card in slot 3.
I can't seem to find anywhere in the iLO/BIOS to tell it to boot from one of these expansion interfaces - is this even possible?
We can turn on the on-board NIC's but our base OS has problems with broadcom.
Using
iostat -Nkx 1
I can see that I am getting regular IO on a volume group. What I'm trying to do is find a way to link that IO to a file/pipe/whatever to see what process is creating this IO and what destination it's hitting. Has anyone come across this before and solved please?
I have a 24 Core Opteron 8435 system with 48GB of RAM. However, the performance is way below that of our 6 Core Intel with 30GB of RAM. I wonder if anyone could this of why? We're running a Drupal website off this box with mysql 5.0 installed on the same box. PHP 5.6.13 and Apache 2.2.9. Every now and then the response is quicker than lightening but most times it struggles. mpstat -P ALL shows little activity but it's almost like the apache children are having problem starting up but once started are fine? Is this a CPU cache issue?

I have a quad hexacore system based on the Opteron 8345 chips - that's 24 cores in all with 48GB of ram. This box was meant to replace the current six Intel core box which my current LAMP stack runs on. I am however getting even worse performance than from the six core. I'm running:
It's almost as if the box is too powerful? Has anyone had any experience with large SMP boxes like this?
