I have a server with two Raids.
Raid 0: 2x 1TB
Raid 6: 8x 2TB
The first raid I used for the hyper-v installation itself. The virtual machines should use the Raid 6, but how can I config it?
I need at least one file server with the most of the disc space (maybe a second). But every vhd has a maximum of 2 TB and I can't use the volume directly because other virtual machines have to have access the Raid6.
What do I do?
Every time I restart my Novell Groupwise on Suse Open Enterprise server the root certificate goes missing. Thats why ldap is not starting and so the other services are not working. After repairing the cert on the second server via imanager everything works fine, until the next restart. This only happens on the first server. The second restarts without problems.
Something went wrong with our backup. What I did
shutting down db
recover the backup
restart db
after that I got this error
ORA-01122: Datenbank-Datei 2 bringt Fehler bei Verifizierungspruefung
ORA-01110: Datendatei 2: 'D:\ORACLE\ORA92ABO\ABO\UNDOTBS01.DBF'
ORA-01207: Datei neuer als Kontrolldatei - alte Kontrolldatei
the controlfile is at C:\oracle ... and the database files are at d:\oracle\ora92abo...
My guess is that the backupprogramm between backing up the d:\oracle files and the c:\controlfile the database restarts. so there is a moment between the backups where the database is running.
Guess thats bad.
I googled that the UNDOTBS01.DBF has something to do with cloning, with we don't use/need at the moment.

step 1: shutdown via
spool d:\oracle\01shutdon.log
connect / AS SYSDBA
shutdown immediate
exit
step2: datatransfer
backup the database folder with syncback to NAS backup the controlfile with xcopy to NAS
step3: restart
spool d:\oracle\02startup.log
connect / AS SYSDBA
startup
exit
I want to transfer one mailman list from one server to another. I guess the old config is in the mailman\lists\LISTNAME\config.pck file, but i can't read it and I don't want to blind copy files around without knowing what I do.
I have here a database which should be quiet small. There should be around 350.000 lines of textonly data but the rdbms folder is around 50 GB. Seems way too huge to me.
I found in the rdbms folder a couple of folders (around 60 Mb) and 17.000 files starting with ARC00311.001 until ARC43183.001. The are made every hour und reaching back to 2006.
Are they some kind of logfile?? Regarding backup, should/must I backup these to? Can i delete them? What would be the drawback in doing so?

I have an oracle database on a windows 2003 server which i can't start. How can i find out which version it is?
EDIT: Some of the oldest files are from 2003 and I dunno know if it's the original server.
I have here an old Dell Server with original serial key on the case. The server is damaged, so i bought a new one and wanted to use the licence from the old one. CDs are not included with the old server so i tried original Windows 2003 Server Standard RS 2 CDs, but the key won't work.
The sticker on the case says
"Windwos Server Std. 203 1-4CPU 5 Clt. DELL"
How can i find out which CDs will work with this key?
I have a posgresql dumpfile every night and i like to keep every one of them. Each is 14 GB in size, so my backupdrive will be full soon.
The difference from one day to another are only some 100MB. How do i make the daily backups without wasting a lot of space.
PS: i used tar to compress 1 file and the size went down to 5GB. I hoped that when i compress two files the ratio would be better, but no. 2 dumps compressed are 10Gb
I have an ArcGIS Server from Esri running and I need to check every hour if some published services (maps) are running. WMS and WFS.
I want to scan my network periodically and get the Ip, mac, OS and netbios name.
So far I got everything done with a bashscript that runs nmap, but the netbiosname is still a problem.
