Lately I'm working a lot with a few open ssh connections to multiple VPS servers. The hostnames of the servers all follow an ID approach and it's becoming very difficult to know on what machine I'm working with.

I was wondering if there is a way to put a name I define somewhere as the title of the terminal. So I would, for example, associate IP 123.123.123.123 with webserver-stg. When opening the connection to the IP, webserver-stg would automaticaly be displayed as the name of the session. Of course I'm not able to change code on the VPS servers, so the solution should be client-side.

Edit: I'm working with terminal.app on OSX 10.6

I've installed pptpd on an ubuntu 10.4 box and configured it like this:

localip: 192.168.1.11 (the pptpd server) remoteip: 192.168.1.150-199

I've also added a user and added the following line to /etc/rc.local: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

and also edited /etc/sysctl.conf to enable ip forwarding.

I can browse the web using this VPN and can ping the 192.168.1.11 server. Whenever I try to connect to another host on the same network (for example 192.168.1.200, a webserver) it fails and ping times out.

Anyone an idea how I can access the other local network computers using vpn? Any help is appreciated!

I'm searching for a solution to take a big directory and make a multiarchive zip backup with each zipfile being 1gig. I've looked at zipsplit but appearently you can not actually split files, ie. one of the files in that directory is 5gig, so zipsplit can't handle it because it's bigger then the target size of the zipfile. I like to make zipfiles to make it easier for windows users to access the files.
