We are actually testing Riverbed Steelheads in order to accelerate replication using SnapMirror between two sites.

The distance ist 100km between the sites. Connection: 150Mbit MPLS Network

Systems: FAS6080 (Source) and FAS3160 (Destination) with ONTAP 7.3.4

The SnapMirror is configured as follows (snapmirror.conf):

Has anyone an idea if there is a special configuration that I forgot in order to optimize the replication?

The problem ist I had 8Mb/s replication speed before, and 16Mb/s now... Peek is 20! That's not enough and I can't find out where it comes from...

Does anyone know the command that enables the usage of 3rd party SFP+ on an Arista 7148S switch?

I'm using Putty for Serial or SSH connections to systems.

For every session, I need to configure Logging manually, enter a new name and destination. I was wondering if there was a solution to set it automatically. Maybe some genius wrote a plugin that's able to do it. Even better would be if Putty will ask you where to save the log right after closing a session window.

My second question is regarding the multiple sessions. Is it possible to open sessions in tabs, a little bit like the Linux terminal?

Otherwise, is there another tool that can be used under Windows and allowing all of the above? Even a shareware.

I use a NetApp FAS3240 as a storage system, and I'd like to attach an LTO-5 NDMP backup system (with Backbone) in Fiber Channel. What will be the difference of using 1 LTO-5 or 2 LTO-5 streams? Will it improve performance a lot? Is there any kind of LTO-5 technical database with some information?

Simple question: Is it possible to use a 8Gb/s Fiber HBA card with a 4Gb/s system? Is there some technical documentation about that?

I'm trying to find a way to mark emails on an exchange server (2007), the same way (or similar) that you can mark with colors on your local emails.

I explain: we're 4 people in the world accessing the same mailboxes, and the goal is to know who's actually working out wich case.

Is there an extension, or some free solution allowing that? The flaging is not enough, each person should become a color, or symbol.

EDIT: I didt't want to know what's the best RAID ever... Otherwise I'd ask: "Why is NetApp RAID-DP so much better than EMC's RAID-6??". My question was purely to know what's the difference between the RAID 10 and 0+1, cause it wasn't clear for me at the time. It has been greatly answered, thanks for the people who understood the sense of the question. Next time I will detail it a bit more, I take the whole culpability on that one!

First Question: I would like to inform myself about NetApp, and I'm looking for a good, complete database where all products and solultions are regrouped, with their features and technical informations. The website is full of informations, but I'd like something more compact, like a poster or similar.

I already found a very nice work comparing Cisco and Avaya, but it's not all. I'm using Putty to connect to my Webserver. I'd like to know the command to delete a user I've set up a few days ago. Is there also a way to display all the users and their rights?

Does anybody have an opinion about backing-up servers on blu-ray disks?

I always have a security backup on disks, and I already switched from DVDs to DVD-DL a few weeks ago, but I have 3 double Layer DVDs to burn every week... I was wondering if burning 1 Blu-ray wouldn't be less complicated. But is it as safe as other disks? And how long does a blu-ray disc survive? Thanks for your experiences.

So, here is the question: I started to work for a small company, where the system is a bit weird... 13 workers, developers mostly, two servers and a lot of cables. I would like to know what would be, in you opinion, the best installation for my server room.

Here is what we already have:

• 2 servers running Windows Server 2003 (1 for communications, 1 for the developers work) --Software-- *ESTOS ProCall for telephone *Tobit David for Email *A few internal programs and a lot of files that need to be accessed
• 1 double-wan router
• 2 switches
• 10 telephones
• 12 workstations (all Windows XP or Vista)
• 4 printers (for different applications)
• 2 Notebooks for external work

The most important for us is to have a good telephone ans email system, what is not really the case at the time. We use ISDN because of a better quality, but the whole software compatibility between David and ProCall is bringing on some errors, and I think it's not normal to have to reboot a server every 2 days... I would like to have suggestion for a "perfect" server room for us. I was thinking of making the communication server work on Linux or MAC OSX Server? For geographical information, the company is in Germany. Low costs would be good.

I have a dual-wan DrayTek Vigor 2950 router and it's working really really good! The only thing that bothers me, without being a huge problem, is that I can't configure a user name to connect to the router's configuration page. It's very easy to set a password, but after looking everywhere in the user's guide and on the web, I still stay without answers. Does anyone have an idea, how I could resolve that case? Thanks.

I'm trying to install Win 2k3 Server on my new TYAN S5350 Motherboard. The controller is configured for a RAID 0 with 2x 500Gb Harddrives. I made a floppy disk with the drivers but it doesn't work: maybe the floppy disk drive is too old, I don't know. Is there any other possibility to make my Harddrive visible during the install of Windows 2003? Thanks.

Edit: Now I tried with an internal floppy disk drive (that I found somewhere in the basement!). It starts the drivers, but then a blue screen pops up just before loading windows harddrive configuration. The basic blue screen recommending a check disk. What is the matter?

I have a very important server running Windows Server 2003 and my System partition is becoming too small, it's slowing down the machine. I have already tried all the cleaning stuff and transferring some "unimportant softs" on the "Saves" partition but it didn't help much at all. Is there a way to re-partition my hard-drive that will work on a 2003 Server, that's not too expensive and that could be used without turning the machine off. If there is no other way, then I'll have to reinstall the OS, but it will have to wait for the weekend. Thanks for your suggestions.

Here I go with my question forward. I work for a small company (12 people) which develops software. I'm in charge of the IT section, and I'm about to "upgrade" the server room.

We have for now 4 servers (way too much!): 2 work on Windows Server 2003: one is the data server, the other one the communications server; 1 print server running Windows 2000 (I'd love to eliminate this one!) and a Linux server for some applications.

We don't use a domain yet, nor Active Directory. What I'd like to do is install a new machine working with a Windows Server 2008 as a data server with a domain and AD, but first I'd like to copy everything from our S1 to the new 2008 server: configuration and content.

What is the best way to do it, without turning off the actual server? I'll write another question for the problems that will soon arise.
