So I eventually want to set up a classic load balancer on AWS and I have a VPC with 2 public subnets, but now I am not sure if I can use those two subnets for that one EC2 instance or do I need two ec2 instances?
Daniel's questions
So I find myself being forced to use a Windows machine just because thats what the financial institution feels is more secure for an outside contractor.
I am using powershell and I just received some svg
assets from their in-house designer which I committed and pushed in the branch I was working in and then attempted to merge into another branch when I got this error:
error: cannot stat 'media/images1': Permission denied
Now I can't even checkout into the other branch where I started this work and I cannot even do a cd
into media/images1
one to take a look at what kind of permissions these svg
files have.
So I am wondering if someone could guide me as to how does this even get done where you deny someone the ability to run a git pull
, cd
or even git checkout <other-branches>
just because you do not have permissions with these files?
Even better still, who would I typically ask to rectify this in a company? Whose job would it normally be to even do this?
I have Nginx routing requests from the browser to either the Express API or my react server, however, in the console I continue to get xhr requests that are just pending and then timeout with 502 bad gateway error which are generally caused by Nginx being unable to pass a request to "upstream", in this case my Express API and normally I would be able to check the /var/log/nginx/
files, but I am not sure how to do that when all this is happening within a Docker container.
I have tried this approach of docker logs <container name/id>
command, but I get Error: No such container: <container-id>
.
I obtained the container id from the last line after running docker-compose up --build
and it says Successfully built <container-id>
I copied that id and ran docker logs <container-id>
on a second panel in my iTerm.
I then did a docker ps
and got this output:
CONTAINER ID IMAGE COMMAND CREATED STATUS PORTS NAMES
f37be54a9e60 complexly_api "npm run dev" 43 minutes ago Up 28 minutes complexly_api_1

I believe I need to grab one of these container ids and do a docker logs
with, but I am not sure.

I did a:
sudo tail -30 /var/log/nginx/error.log
And received the following errors, but I do not know what they mean:
PHP message: PHP Notice: Undefined index: success in /var/www/microurb.com/public_html/index.php on line 295" while reading upstream, client: 24.55.9.54, server: www.microurb.club, request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php/php7.0-fpm.sock:", host: "www.microurb.club"

I believe the issue has root in my configuration above, but I am not sure where. When I try to uncomment this block:
31 # location / {
32 # # First attempt to serve request as file, then
33 # # as directory, then fall back to displaying a 404.
34 # try_files $uri $uri/ =404;

I get an error after running sudo nginx -t
saying that I have nginx: [emerg] duplicate location "/" in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/microurb.com:31
, but I only have one. Not sure why I get that error.
I am trying to log in to a centos 6.8 server and I have the ip address and correct password. It stored the private key in my known_hosts file, but then I forgot about. My colleague can login from his computer, he has the private key in the id_rsa.pub file which he sent to me. When I stored it, I still could not log in. I since deleted that file, but I still cannot login and I can't make sense of this error log below, please help.
