I need some calrification about managing SQL server 2008. The scenario is as follows: I have One Windows Physical server at Primary site, I want to have Two different applications database on it, so shall I create two Instances on same server or shall have diffenrent server for another database. First Database is for management purpose while second would be used for Reporting purpose. There is a second database at the secondary site, which will be in Passive mode and I intend to connect them through MSCS. Now, can I have both Instances on Single server and both will work fine? The management database will be used more. Please reply soon. Can both Instances have dedicated reources allocated to them?

I have a newly built Solaris LDOM, I need to check the same for acceptance. Can anybody tell me which commands I need to perform to check whether the LDOM is properly built?
"/app (/dev/dsk/c0d1s0 ):51430396 blocks 3098364 files" What is the size of UFS in the command above; does block means the total space allocation?
Any reference to solaris commands, I need to check some solaris LDOM for various parameters, so need the list of solaris commands.
we are planning to install 5-6 LDOMS on Sun server T5240, as the server is purchased from Sun so the OS license is free. but does creating many LDOMS require some additional license?
please revert back soon
I read somewhere that OEM comes along with Oracle Database, but does it require some management license and how the license is counted? is it per physical/LDOM server based or per control domain based or per processor based?
How much OS space is required to create a Solaris LDOM on a Physical server?
I have two Oracle 11g Database servers, one at primary site and second at failover site, and i intend to use Oracle Data Gaurd for failover in between. I have few questions 1) Do i need standby database back up. If so, would the requirements be same as of primary? 2) In case of failover, what is good, automatic failover or manual? 3) What configuration and implementation setup is required to maintain a common IP address (Virtual IP) to the databases.
I have a phyiscal server which is divided into 5 Solaris LDOMS, now I need to give a domain role to each individual server, can anybody help me deciding the same. I need a suggestion about having AD DS or AD LDS for my infrastructure.
I have a website which as of now do not have any log in facility for the visitors, now we are developing a new application so that the visitors can create account on the website. the best example you can think of is of any telecom service provider, they have their webiste and now is creating a login facility for it's customers so the users can create an account and can subscribe for ebill sort of facilities.
Hope the situation is clear now. For this particular application, I intend to have a web server, an application server, a DB server, one SMTP server and one AD server(for authentication of users and for saving the profiles also).
My question here starts on AD front, here do i need AD DS or AD LDS here, what i need from AD is
- provide user authentication
- provide role based access.
This is my query.
If I want to implement AD LDS for a single application, does it require Physical hardware or it can be installed/enabled on web server or application server. As usually the web and app servers are placed in DMZ if the above option is not feasible can we put standalone AD LDS server n DMZ.
A basic question about AD license, if on my company website, clients makes an account and would be authenticated through AD server, do i need to have the licenses for the clients coming via web. and what all license would come into picture.
