I am trying to reset the root password on a rhel 7 machine
Following one of the many articles online
I first hit 'e' to get into edit mode
However after I do that is asks for a username and password?
What am I doing wrong?
I have tried putting in random passwords for root, however all it will do is reboot the machine back to the grub menu
Server is running on VMware 6.7
I am trying to just install a mysql client on a centos 7 server.
I have a remote mysql server I need to connect to, I do not want to install the mysql server.
From Centos 7 it will default to mariadb which is fine

When I try to run mysql I get
[root@server ~]# mysql
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
I cannot figure out how to start it
[root@server ~]# systemctl start mysql
Failed to start mysql.service: Unit not found.
[root@server ~]# systemctl start mysqld

I have 2 spf records for my email example.com
The first one is from my hosting provider. I DO send and receive email through my hosting provider. Emails from here do not go to spam.
"v=spf1 ?include:custspf.register.com"
Second SPF is for my digital ocean droplet. I ONLY want to send email from the sever NOT receive. All messages from this server go to spam.
"v=spf1 mx a ip4:111.22.33.44/32 a:example.com ?all"

I have tried to update the second spf to
"v=spf2 mx a ip4:111.22.33.44/32 a:example.com ?all" but it did not help.
Googleing around I have seen many articles that suggest not using multipule spfs record and use 1 and combine them.
