I have a SharePoint 2007 front end server and the C: drive space started being consumed by something. I looked into it and some of the *.ci files from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\(guid)\Projects\Portal_Content\Indexer\CiFiles directory are huge, some ranging from from 200mb to 500mb. I think they are content index files.
Can I get rid of these files?
What are they tied to and why should I care about them?
WSS 3.0 IIS6/WinSever2003 CAG
We have several WSS sites on a SharePoint WSS box that talk to the outside, all of which are SSL enabled. So you get a CAG(Citrix Access Gateway) to translate the 443 port to the local ssl port on the server.
Everything is set up and works fine until you get into the Site Settings and start rooting around, it seems like a very unstable link library. Links will try to use the local ssl port number instead of the 443 standard; it will try to skip the step. Is that the site? Any ideas on how to fix it?
I deleted everything from a site collection recycle bin and remoted into the SQL server the content database is located on, went to view the WSS_Content and the sucker didn't get smaller. I had about a good 2 or 3 gigs of folders with files in the recycle bin. I just want to make sure that it is getting deleted.
Is there something I am missing? Or does the SQL server not update file sizes properly?

Now I know that if I connect to contact list in Sharepoint and drag and drop everything from the Exchange Public Folder contact list to the Sharepoint Contact list (connected through Outlook) it will transfer everything in the contact list to the sharepoint contact list.
What about distribution lists? Has anyone had a workaround for this? If a contact list is full of distribution lists the Contacts won't migrate over and the Sync Issues -> Local Failures folder is populated with all the distribution lists that couldn't be migrated.
Is there a way to migrate distribution lists? Any ideas how to set up the sharepoint contact list like a public folder contact list of distrubition lists? How would that contact list look on sharepoint? Should I just leave the contact lists that have distribution lists on public folders?
I want to set a retention policy (DB Settings -> Information Management Policy Settings) on a discussion board, but does the attachment get deleted as well?
Also, I have a discussion board retention policy right now that isn't working properly. The criteria is:
Last Updated + 30 days
Delete
There are plenty of dicussion items that are long past "Last Updated". Any ideas why?

I have a content database that keeps growing for the name of simply, "WSS_Content"
This database is aside from all the other content databases that are linked to an web application, but located in the same directory. I count 5 CONTENT databases on this directory, but only 4 web applications (excluding the centraladmin). Trouble is it keeps growing in size and I need to know what it is and why its growing. Is this a default database of some kind? Where and why would it grow?
I recently found, through Central Administration, that one of my sites has a content database name of
"WSS_Content_(random numbers and letters)"
whereas, the other content databases would have a name like
"WSS_Content_(WebApplicationName)"
What gives?
Not all of my AD Groups are showing in the Audience list. I want to create a new audience based on if the user is in a group. Some AD groups show up, and others don't. Many the newer ones do not show up. My connection is pulling (im pretty sure) the whole AD via primary domain controller.

I've searched everywhere and I cannot find the answer, due to the rarity of our setup.

We have a sharepoint site that is in good shape, almost. Its TCP and SSL port are uncommon and need to be rerouted to work properly. This is where the Citrix Access Gateway (CAG) comes in play. It will redirect any request from URL (something.something.com) to the correct SSL port on the correct server. My AAM is configured to Default something.something.com and nothing else, since the CAG will provide the port. We use FBA, and require SSL.
This works perfectly for everything that is safe or that is anything that an end user can see, but if I try to add a webpart, it errors out. Whereas if I add it internally, or bypass the CAG the webpart adds fine. The same goes for most of the _layouts pages, like _layouts/new.aspx. If I add a Link List/Doc library on the something.something.com, it errors out (Page cannot be displayed) and the page won't display, but if I try it with an internal address it will work fine.
I found that if I am trying to add something or doing anything administrative, the site will navigate to the pages that I need to go to fine, but when i actually ADD something the URL will change from something.something.com to something.something.com:SSLport, thus erroring out the site. The URL with the SSL port shows on the Site URL when navigating to Site Settings. However, if I bypass the CAG, using the internal address the _layouts page works like a charm and i can add anything. All the CAG does is reroute a DNS request to the provided server and port.
I've tried reextending the application, no luck same thing.
I've tried changing the AAM to hide the port and the CAG rejects it.
I've tried to recreate a new webapp/site collection with the same rules on the CAG, same thing occurs.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and please provide me with some feedback and answers. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Is it the CAG or the Alternate Access Mappings (AAM)?
