I have a Ubuntu server on an Azure VM. It is running Wordpress and I want to give Jetpack access via port 22. However, the Azure Networking is locked down, allowing port 22 only from specific sources.
What source do I register for Jetpack? What IP will it be coming from?
The best info I can find seems to be "Whitelist all communications between WordPress.com and Jetpack" on this site.
I have an Oracle Cloud Autonomous Database running in the Free Tier. Occasionally the database stops. When viewed on the website, the details say that it was stopped due to inactivity.
However, that sometimes happens just a few minutes after reading and writing to the database!
Why is that happening? Is there anything I can do about it?
In the Azure Kusto query system, I can add columns by manually typing them in using project :
AzureDiagnostics
| project TimeGenerated, httpMethod_s
or by selecting them with the "columns" button:
But when I select the columns I want visually, the query does not get updated and if I save the query, the choice of columns is not saved.
How can I update the query text to include the columns I've just selected?
On a Windows 10 computer, the SQL 17.5 SSMS installation fails.
From the logs, it appears that the error is in the VSTA 2015 installation. Running that (vsta_setup.exe) directly fails with the following error in the log file (named dd_vsta_setup_(var.MajorVersion)_20180322092420.log):

One curious thing here is that the culture says "zh-HANS". However, this computer is purely English and has no Chinese installed on it.
Any suggestions on how to get this install to work?
The Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) will not start on my Windows 10 PC anymore. As a result, IIS won't start. I'm not quite sure when it happened, but likely in the last month.
During startup, I now get a series of 4 error events in the System log:
WAS 5215: The Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) failed to execute initialization for offline setup. The data field contains the error number. [Data field: 50000780]
WAS 5005: Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) is stopping because it encountered an error. The data field contains the error number. [Data field: 50000780]
Service Control Manager 7023: The WAS service terminated with the following error: The file exists.
Service Control Manager 7001: The W3SVC service depends on the WAS service which failed to start because of the following error: The file exists.
I've not many references to this type of error with the error the file exists.
(I've tried to use ProcMon to try to identify what file it is referring to, but it absolutely refuses to run.)
Edit... finally got ProcMon to work (after extracting the 64-bit version using VS2017). Turns out that the file that was cause the above problem was the "applicationhost.config.tmp" file in the C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\Config folder. Removing that file allowed the process to continue further.
Now, the first and third errors are:

At first, I was unable to view/edit/delete the d6d986f09a1ee04e24c949879fdb506c_* file. When I attempted to view its permission, I got the message: You do not have permission to view this object's security properties, even as an administrative user. I was, however, able to change ownership to "Administrators" then give that groups Full permission to it, and then I could view it. The file was not a text file but about 28 bytes into the file is NetFrameworkConfigurationKey. I moved the file out of that folder.
I then ran net start was and got System error 80 has occurred. The file exists.
There was nothing added to the iis.log file but the usual Error events were added to the System event log.
I then manually deleted the applicationhost.config.tmp file and ran net start was. This time, I got System error 13 has occurred. The data is invalid.
This time, there were new entries to iis.log

I have some Azure web sites that have the Web Hosting Plan Mode set to "Basic".
I'm trying to change them to "Shared".
However, when saving the new Plan Mode, it fails with the error message: Cannot update the site '____' because it uses AutoHeal feature which is not allowed in the target compute mode.
That's fine, I don't need the "AutoHeal" feature on these sites.
But, how can that be turned off?
I don't see any such setting in either version of the portal. There is the "Always On" configuration, but that is turned off. I've seen mention that it uses settings in the web.config file, but each of the sites have the same web.config, and only one of them is listed in the error message.
The instructions for deploying an HPC Cluster (e.g. step 1.5 on this page in TechNet) are very clear that HPC cluster nodes "must be members of an Active Directory domain".
Does the Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services provide this?
That is, can the HPC cluster use AD LDS for its Active Directory domain, or do I need the full AD DS (Domain Services) role?
This question is not about a person using Excel on a computer that happens to have an Windows Server OS. And it is not about using any Sharepoint services features!
The question is about automated processes that use code (Office Automation) to open Excel files, manipulate them, run calculations, read data, save copies of the file and close the files... all in code.
In previous versions of Excel the licensing agreement prevented use on a public server, notes from Microsoft warned about the problems trying to use Office Automation in a server environment, and we were warned that Excel was single threaded and not designed for use on a server.
Most of the articles about this were written before Office 2010.
But now, Excel 2010 is designed to work on a High Performance Computing server using HPC Services for Excel. One HPC document mentions "Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 includes a comprehensive pop-up manager that can handle occasional dialog boxes and pop-up messages".
So my question is... is it now "safe" to run code that automates Excel 2010 on a "normal" server without using the HPC services?
If not, can the HPC Services for Excel work on a single server?
I don't need the high performance, distributed computing, aspect of HPC Services for Excel... just the ability to run Excel on a server.
Can that now be done?

Is it possible to create email addresses like these:
and have them all handled by one mail server, as three different mail boxes?
(Many examples I've seen talk about directing mail to [email protected] into the same mail box as [email protected] - but this is not what I'm looking for.)
I haven't specified the server technology being used because I'm wondering if this is generally possible. If you know that server x can do this, please mention it in your answer!
Is it correct that MX records can be set to direct email to all subdomains *.mydomain.com to one mail server? Is that still true if there are also web sites at those subdomains (using A records)?

I have a SQL Server 2005 database... a copy of it is running in development on a full version of SQL server. Another copy is running in SQL Server 2005 Express on a web server.
I've used SQL Profiler and saved a Tuning trace log from activity on the SQL Express copy of the database.
I want to use the saved trace log in the Database Engine Tuning Advisor...
If I try when connecting the Advisor to the Express database, I am told that Express is not supported.
If I try when connecting the Advisor to the SQL Server database, I get empty results.
Is there any way to do this?
