We are trying to add new nodes to an existing Windows Failover Cluster (WFCS). When we run the Add Node wizard in Failover Cluster Manager, or run the Add-ClusterNode in PowerShell, we get the same cryptic error "The parameter is incorrect". No further information is provided in the cluster logs or any of the event logs.

The server 'servername' could not be added to the cluster. An error occurred while adding node 'servername' to cluster 'clustername'.

These are Windows 2012r2 servers.

Long time DBA, but new to PowerShell. I'm looking to use PowerShell to loop through several SQL Server instances and find out what jobs failed within the past 24 hours. I need to know failures even if the job ran successfully afterwards. Right now I just want to get it to work on one server, and then I'll move on to multiple servers.

What I have so far allows me to loop through all the jobs, but I'm not sure what to do to get the execution statuses for the last 24 hours:

$srv = New-Object "Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server" "localhost"

$jobs = $srv.JobServer.Jobs

foreach ($job in $jobs)
{
    $jobHistory = $job.EnumHistory()
}

Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to getting in to PowerShell more, but right now, some of the SMO is a bit confusing.

We are going to implement a SharePoint 2010 farm, but due to some issues, we will not be able to create an account with the necessary privileges to use "User Profile Synchronization Service".

My question is, can we run SharePoint 2010 Standard edition without using the User Profile Synchronization Service? If so, how do we import user profile information?

I've been tasked with taking over the administration of a MySQL installation (running on Red Hat Linux) that will become fairly critical to our business in the near future.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some resources in regards to administering MySQL for DBAs already experienced with other relational database (SQL Server and some Oracle in my case). Specifically I'm looking for information around disaster recovery as well as high availability to start with, but I do want to get well rounded with the entire system.

We are moving to a scale out deployment of SSRS 2008 Enterprise with reporting services running on 2 front ends connecting to the "ReportServer" and "ReportServerTempDB" databases on a separate SQL Server 2008 cluster.

Can you run Reporting Services 2008 R2 while connected to the report server databases that live on a SQL Server 2008 (non R2) database server?

Has anyone successfully set up a Fusion-io ioDrive (or similar product) in a Windows cluster for SQL Server? (I would be interested in either Windows Server 2003 or 2008 and SQL Server 2005 or 2008).

We are looking into the possibility of setting up 2 cards on each node in the cluster (RAID 1) to house the TempDB database.

Specifically we are interested in how you would trick windows clustering service to recognize this local "drive" as a cluster resource. (I'm well aware this is unsupported by MS).

We have a MOSS 2007 Standard farm, running on 2 Web Front End (WFE) and 1 Indexing server all running on 64 bit Windows Server 2003 servers.

We need to upgrade our servers to Windows Server 2008, and wanted to know if you can run 1 WFE on Windows 2008 and 1 WFE on Windows 2003, while we are in the process of upgrading our individual servers.
