I've recently been getting alerts from our server monitoring software about greater than 90% disk I/O utilisation.
I installed iotop and there are three instances of the following process showing up with very high IO:
% getfacl -R --absolute-names /var/www
Does this indicate a problem?
Before we completed the migration from sbs 2003 to sbs 2011 the server running sbs 2003 failed so we were unable to carry out the steps required to remove the last legacy exchange server i.e we can not access the Exchange 2003 System Manager .
When we run the Microsoft Exchange Best Practices Analyser on the 2011 server we receive the following warnings:
Exchange Server machine name could not be contacted
How can we manually update active directory so that the failed machine is no longer listed as an exchange server? (the machine account no longer exists)
How can we designate the 2011 server as the routing group master?
If I open internet explorer by clicking on the shortcut it opens fine, I can then open local html files with no problem.
I have tried re-setting the default exe that the html files open with and navigated to the iexplore.exe, but this did not help.
I realise the usage of the disks will affect the performance, I’m just looking for a general estimation.
I have a .SAV and .VHD file from a backup. Since these files were created the revert to snapshot feature was used, by design this deleted everything since the snapshot was created. However I now need to access the data that was in the snapshot.
Is there any way of using the .sav and associated vhd file to restore the virtual machine?
I am setting up an installation of CA arcserve 12.5 for network backups.
I ran a trial run of the backups over the weekend and noticed that each backup waited for the prior to complete. At the moment I have one File System Device which I was going to use for all of our servers. The FSD is assigned to one media pool.
Is this incorrect? I set it up this way as I thought it didn't make sense to make a new FSD and media pool for each server.
I have 5 servers I would like to backup in parralell each weekend, in this situation do I need a different FSD and Media pool for each server?
I am currently looking for some new backup software and have noticed that a number of the products out there charge a lot for the SQL server agents i.e. around £500. Could anyone tell me why these addins cost so much when SQL server has built-in backup. Would you advise against using the MS SQL server backup functionality and then backing up the output, if so why?
