 dd bs=1M count=256 if=/dev/zero of=filename conv=fdatasync
    avarage ~ 30 MB/s
all disks in guest are RAWformat /VirtioBUS / No cache / IOmode=native

after some time write speed falls to 1 MB/s , but host system is not have loaded and dd test shows same 30-40 MB/s , cpu usage 10% . Guest reboot helps for a while. There is no errors/ faults / no mdadm rebuild or resync.

Have no idea where is a problem or where to dig.

Looks like this helps on guest: sync && echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

Similar problem On a system with 64GB mem the Linux Buffer run full while copying with dd to dev null and io stops till manual drop_caches

i've got some problem with rotating files. Situation is next:

1. one program like wireshark or vlc dumps all to one file, say netstream.bin
2. If i mv netstream.bin to netstream.bin.rotate program will still write to netstream.bin.rotate .
3. As it is stream dump, this file would became larger and larger

Is there any solution, how to rotate this files?

Something like FILO pseudo file:

mkfilo /tmp/stream.buffer
./scrtip/program.bin -o /tmp/stream.buffer
get_out_filo(stream.buffer) > netstream.bin

My question also sounds like "How to change programs file descriptor to write another file"

we've setup Gitlab (as was described at official site). All works fine.

Now we need to add git hook to new-created projects called post-update (lets say it is located at /home/git/gitolite/hook/post-update).

I think there is some easy way to use something like skeleton to copy that file to new-created projects.

Is there any config or doc how to do that?

I've got problem to copy all data from /dev/sda5 to /dev/md1 via pvmove because first disk has size 465.52 and second one 465.40 . Why this happens? no HPA is active.

Any idea how to fix it? (live migration on mirror raid)

A1,A2,A3 are members of 2 queues: queue1(Q1) and queue2(Q2)

A3 has penalty 3 in Q1 where min/max penalty are 0/3 and A3 has penalty 0 at Q2 where min/max penalty are 0/3. A3 has just ended a call and is on wrapuptime pause. User1 (U1) enters Q1 with priority 10, and user2 (U2) enters Q2 with priority 15. A3 wrapuptime ends. What user U1 or U2 will be served first?

I ve got problem with perl script for asterisk. I've investigate that when tping use DBI; -- all statcks. After that i added:

Ive got problem with kvm usb forwarding and printing (windows xp guest goes BSOD when i try to print something). Ive been adviced to change usb to 1.1 version. That only kvm works with 1.1 not 2.0 version of usb. How can i do this for certain port in ubuntu os?

USB device -> Canon LBP 2900 (witch need to be network printer) directly connected to Ubuntu server with qemu-kvm via USB. This printer works horribly in ubuntu. So i've created guest vm with winxp and forwarded there usb port. Winxp recognize this printer and installs drivers. When trying to print test page -- BSOD. In VirtualBox all works fine.

It looks like system detects printer as usb2.0 device, but kvn forwards only usb1.1 max. So i need to change usb 2.0 to 1.1

Ive got

eth0:0 192.168.2.10 (for bgp network announce, no vlan, alias on eth0)
eth0.1 192.168.3.20 (for bgp session 1,vlan3 transport to bgp router)
eth0.2 192.168.4.30 (for bgp session 2,vlan4 transport to bgp router)

default route is given by zebra (192.168.3.1 or 192.168.4.1 -- failover)

when external ip (192.168.1.100) tries to connect to 192.168.2.10 -> answered packets goes via 192.168.3.1 (where source ip for this is 192.168.3.20). This works correct. But i want source address to be 192.168.2.10. Main problem is when asterisk is running on 192.168.2.10 and clients try to register sip from 192.168.1.100 -> answers are send from 192.168.3.20 and packages are dropped on remote side .

How to fix/solve this? or is there any other way of configuration interfaces? Main idea is to switch routing for 192.168.2.10 if one of bgp sessions goes down.

rp_filter=0 on all interfaces

If i put something like:

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d 192.168.1.0/24 -j SNAT --to-source 192.168.5.58

this doesn't work either.

All the problem is that asterisk is behind nat in this scheme. if i run it on all interfaces -> sip client connects ok on 192.168.4.30 and 192.168.3.20 ip's , but not on 192.168.2.10 one.

hdparm -W 0 /dev/sda (or /dev/sdc) works ok, but this letters could be changed during boot. and i want to use this via disk-uuid.

I'm trying to use native /etc/hdparm.conf to disable write_cache on disk-by-uuid.

i dont want to write some script to check what /dev/sdX i should use with hdparm, so im asking what to do. Please help.

I've got this network topology:

one ubuntu server(2 vlans on 1 ether) eth0.100 (ip:192.168.100.10/24) eth0.200 (ip: 192.168.200.20/24 def gw 192.168.200.254)

Situation is next:

1. eth0.200 is up
2. eth0.100 us down.
3. connection from subnet 192.168.100.0/24 is ok to 192.168.200.20.

When i make eth0.100 up:

• cannot access 192.168.200.20 from 192.168.100.0/24 network. (wrong interface responce. when package arrives to 192.168.200.20 from 192.168.100.0/24 it is responsed back by 192.168.100.10)

how to fix this?

i've got exim4 on ubuntu server and i-ve got a pool of 20 external IP's.

Is that possible to configure exim4 to use this ip-s rotating to send mail?

I think i could do this with iproute / iptables load balancing with "link stick" but i want to know if this is possible with exim4 internal configuration. Maybe there i should create several external smtp_drivers that will be using one of 20 IP and some random() func ?

I've got a log parser in perl and it uses the mysql insert or update command on every line. Like:

Log line 1: 2012-12-01 12:12 [perld] Hello world #1
....
Log line N: 2012-12-01 12:NN [perld] Hello world #N

It parses these lines and gets "timestamp" and "#N" and inserts them into the mysql db (parses line with perl::tail function).

I've got about 100 lines/second so there would be about 100 inserts to mysql.

Is there any solution/algorithm to optimize that? Or maybe I should use something like buffer with insert?

is there a simple way to match something like this:

ive setup asterisk with queues (agent.conf sip.conf queues.conf) Everything is working well.

I need to send caller's id to agent's machine (or web site) from queue.

MEMBERNAME and QUEUENAME are enabled by setinterfacevar=yes in queues.conf This doesnt work :(. and i cant get that variables in agi script.

I've got some problem with ptr and domains. Here is situation:

• external ip: 123.123.123.132
• domain1: example.com
• domain2: elpmaxe.net
• mailserver is on exim4.
• PTR 123.123.123.123 matches example.com

How should I set the PTR for the second domain? How this is solved in web-hosters/vps/? Should I have another external IP for that?

is there a command within exim4 (4.70-4.71) package (ubuntu) to display the message-id (exim's message-id) of delivered messages? (shows as Completed in /var/log/exim4/mainlog) ?

there is a exim4 -bpu command for undelivered ones.

Purpose: Tell and proof user that his mail was accepted by remote smtp and all problems are not our's :) Size of log ~ 100 MB per day.

I've seen many solutions like homedir=/somepath/$USER where $USER takes from sysvar and I want to change it for every user with mysql database. I'm using it with pam-mysql so it will look like

Id login passwd homedirectory

And I want this home directory to put in vsftpd.conf->home_directory = something like

 select homedirectory from vsftpd where login='$USER'

im haveing context [pstn] with incoming _1000 number and CallerID = 123123123 ("external number of calling person")

How can i locally check this situation? solution like dialplan show 123123123@pstn didnt work cos of pstn allready has 1000 number. i need something like dialplan show 1000($CallerID=123123123)@pstn is there any solution?

Is it possible and if so how, to make users use an external RADIUS server to connect to Windows shares?
