I have ESXi 5.1 with many hosts in a cluster. I would like to generate a list of active NICs and thier IP addresses. Whats the easiest tool to generate such a list?
*I am not looking for the Virtual Hardware, only the Physical network hardware.

I have a pile of old and assorted servers. I want to benchmark, stress test and collect all hardware info from them before putting them into test lab environment. I would also like to be able to compare results between these servers. What tools could I put on a live Linux USB to perform the above task?
I have used hardinfo but it doesn't have the ability to compare stats with my own machines.

I'm wondering if this is an possible through group policy.
Is possible to define a list of allowed programs and have the rest automatically un-installed when a user logs off/on their computer?
There is an option to define policy "uninstall when software falls out of scope" but this only applies when software is originally installed through through a global policy, Something that a lot of unwanted software is not.

Is it possible to mass change ILO settings with HP Systems Insight Manager?
I am looking for an automated method of getting all my organizations servers power settings configured the same Ilo. Basically I want all my servers enabled for "Automatically Power On Server" and "Power delay to 30 seconds"
How do I go about this? I have looked all over the interface but am not seeing an obvious method of achieving this.
So far I have created a group but cant see a a way of changing the power settings and mass deploy it.
Systems Insight Manager 7.0.0 - Windows 80+ Hp Proliant G4, G5, G6 and G7 Servers.
Our organization servers are mostly not virtualized and we have been using HP System Management, System insight manager to get hardware health from the servers. This system works well and we like it.
However, times, she are a changin' and More and more of our OS's are being virtualised. Is there HP System management tool that can run in the guest that can report on the physical servers health and status? Like if the RAID has gone suspect of one of the UPS is going bad?

I've had some Active Directory troubles lately was was wondering what checks I could do on a regular basis I could do to ensure everything is working optimally?
We have contractors periodically remoting into our production servers and goodness know what changes that they could potentially make. So What can I use to log when users log on or off a server(s)?
Windows Server 2003 AD Domain
I approved .net framework update on my WSUS server. Those updates have been pushed to the domain machines but have not been installed yet. They are waiting in the system tray waiting to installed.
This update should never have been approved. They update will cause custom enterprise software to stop running. I have made a mistake and need to reverse this process. How can I recall this update or stop it from running?
I have a silly question.
I have taken over a WSUS server. It has a couple hundred superceded updates. I have disapproved them. Is this correct thing to do? as I understand there are newer updates and it would be damaging and useless to install these.
I am looking for ideas on how to save and clear event logs on multiple servers through use of a script.
There used to be a tool for Windows Server 2000 called "Eventlog.pl" that could save and clear event logs remotely. I haven't found anything that does this in Windows Server 2003 unless I'm missing something obvious. How else can I go about this?
I am on Windows Server 2003 with a Domain.
I cant figure out what I am doing wrong with this command and would like another set of eyes to point it out.
I want to copy the directory structure but not the files the structure contains.
Copy-Item -recurse -exclude *.* -path \\server1\z$\backups\ -destination \\server2\z$\ -Verbose
The command runs but it copys files despite telling it not to copy files. How do i copy the directory tree and not the files?
I need a script to create the same shared folder on 50 remote Windows Server 2003.

Can somebody please show me how to install this nagios plugin that checks if your servers require winodws updates?
I am on Ubuntu 10.04 with Nagios V3. I followed the nagios quick install guide to get Nagios running.
edit: I have NSclient++ installed on the monitored servers.
I want to change the desktop wallpaper on a bunch of users desktop. I dont have AD so I can't use a Global Policy. I found a script that works locally. However, I dont know how to make this run remotely. I plan on running the script from my computer and having it apply on the remote desktop computers I have in a list.
set-itemproperty -path "HKCU:Control Panel\Desktop" -name WallPaper -value c:\wallpaper\wallpaper.jpg
How can I get this this script to run on remote computers?
I have a few users with Outlook 2003 and Windows 7. Every time they open outlook, They repeatedly get asked for their username and password no matter how many times they are entered. Outlook goes directly into offline mode when clicking cancel. The users are able to view their mail through outlook web access. I can open their mailboxes on a different computer with outlook 2003.
I have recreated their outlook profile. I have check all the permissions on the mailbox. "Self" has all the permissions. I have moved their mailbox between exchange servers (I have two). I have tried entering the details as "domain\username" and "server\username" and just "username"
I'm using exchange 2003 and server 2003.
Edit: I have a domain. They are able to login to windows with their active directory account .
I am trying to see if a process is running on multiple servers and then format it into a table.
get-process -ComputerName server1,server2,server3 -name explorer | Select-Object processname,machinename
Thats the easy part - When the process does not exist or if the server is unavailable, powershell outputs a big ugly error, messes up the the table and doesn't continue. Example
Get-Process : Couldn't connect to remote machine.At line:1 char:12 + get-process <<<< -ComputerName server1,server2,server3 -name explorer | format-table processname,machinename
+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Get-Process], InvalidOperatio nException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : System.InvalidOperationException,Microsoft.Power Shell.Commands.GetProcessCommand
How do I get around this? If the I would still like to get notified if the process isn't available or Running.
Just a quick question, Will a DNS server be able to resolve queries without having forwarders configured or will it just use root hints to resolve queries in that case?
I have about 70 servers and I need to keep an eye on their disk space usage. I don't need the information to be real time. I was thinking of running a script daily or having a scheduled task run to collect the disk information and save it to a text file or something.
What would be the best way to do this? How?
I'm a SQL noob. Whats so important about backing up the SQL log files?
