Windows 2003 server will show the loading screen then it stops with:
Stop c000218 registry file failure or corrupt. The registry can not load the hive \systemroot\system32\config\security
Then it start a count down about dumping the physical memory to disk and reboot itself again.
I found Error starting Windows SBS 2003 - STOP: c0000218
But the config there is different directory than mine. Is it the same step to try for recovery console?
I downloaded the latest MySQL connector for .Net and I got this error "Authentication with old password no longer supported, use 4.1 style passwords."
I found a StackOverflow post on how to fix it so I stupidly logged in as root with Sqlyog and run these two quires:
SET SESSION old_passwords=FALSE;
SET PASSWORD = PASSWORD('[your password]');
Now I can't log in as root. Is there a way to reverse it back to use old_password? The root password length is 41 from 16. I can't upgrade every users password because there are other users using it and I don't want to break. What's my option here? Can I use instance config wizard to change root password?
EDIT: My server is Win2003 Standard, IIS6 and I can have admin access to the server.
I've been experiences some problem with website that use ASP.net MVC or Webform.
Problem: Sometime the website isn't showing. If I go to the website, I'll get the Directory Browsing is not permitted or something as such.
Quick fix: Log into the server and did a app pool recycle on the app that is associated with the website.
Sever: Win2k3 Standard R2, IIS6, 4GB RAM, AMD dual core. used it for some share hosting. not many active websites and the traffic is rather low.
I don't quite understand why the website just not working and I have to recycle the app pool. I've created a app pool named ASPNET4 for any website that use .Net 4 and a ASPNET2 for below .Net 4 framework. Does anyone know what the problem is and how I can fix it instead of checking the website in order to find out.
Edit: I should further explain that this server is used for shared hosting and I'm using Helm3 control panel which created ASPNET2 for .Net 3 and below website and ASPNET4 which I created to support .Net4, and manually associate the website with that pool
I'm a software developer currently stuck to support CyberArk at a large company. I need to pull up a list of accounts that is belong to a certain user. For example, let's said I have a user account named Bob and I want to find all the accounts that belong to Bob in AD meaning on the Organization tab of a user properties, the Manager should be Bob.
I've absolutely zero knowledge regarding AD except the very basic. Is there a way to do it? I only have access to "Active Directory Users and Computers" tool and I'm not even sure if I have enough privilege to run script or install powershell to do it but would like to know the script or powershell command to do so if there is one.
A lot of time, I need to connect to my stand alone Windows 2003 server at datacenter with public wifi like wifi at starbucks. From my understanding that SSH to a Linux server through public wifi is safe but how about remote desktop with public wifi? Is it safe to remote desktop into my server with public wifi?

Sorry if i don't make any senses, bad grammar or spelling since I've been up all night since 3am this morning trying to get my Win2k3 Standard R2 server to work.
Problem:
I did some Windows update around 3am this morning but during the update process. I lost Remote desktop connection as my machine is do several attempts to connect with the remote server. I cancel the attempt after several try. I figure i can remote desktop back in again if i wait for a bit but I couldn't re-establish the connection with my remote server. So, I drove to the Datacenter to check it out and it turn out the machine have rebooted and I'm stuck with "NTDetect failed" error message. After some googling, I was trying to fix this error by copying NTLDR and NTDetect.COM into C: but when i tried to use the Win2k3 CD to go into Windows Setup and repair. I got an error message telling me that "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer...".
After some googling, I found the two Maxtor SATA hard disks might be the problem and one soultion that i found was to disable the SATA or set it to IDE since the motherboard have nvida RAID controller onboard. I check the BIOS and the RAID is set to disabled and then i tried to disable SATA and only enable IDE. It still give me the same error message about not able to find any hard disk.
I'm on my last rope here. I'm short of reformatting the hard disk and do a fresh reinstall but I will like to avoid this.
Does anyone know if cancel Remote desktop connection attempt during Windows update process cause this NTdetect failed problem or something else that might related to my hardware. I can assure you that two SATA hard disks shown on BIOS.
The soultion to NTDecte failed problem seem to be just copying NTLDR and NTdectect.com into C:\ but since i can't even get to Repair mode during Windows setup with no disk install error. Can someone recommand how to solve this problem?
The motherboard that i use is ASUS M2N-MX SE AM2 NVIDIA GeForce6100 / nForce430 and the BIOS is American Megatrends Inc.

update: I was trying to use Ubuntu live CD to copy over NTDLR and NTDECTEC.com files onto my C drive but live CD failed due to some Emask error on hard disk. I was thinking the server is probably gone and as last effort I try to run the Windows recovery console again and this time it find the hard disk and i was able to copy those two files over.
My server live once but when i got home I can't remote desktop into my server but as far as everything else goes. It seem to be fine. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot remote desktop issue?
