I would like to be able to determine which Hyper-V host a particular CentOS 7 VM is running on. In a Windows VM this is stored in HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Virtual Machine\Guest\Parameters
. Is anyone aware of a methodology for getting this from inside a CentOS guest?
Robert Kaucher's questions
I've configured a test DSC pull server and I'm attempting to use a digitally signed xPowerShellExecutionPolicy
file but I am constantly getting an error stating that the MOF schema file is invalid or missing.
The code signing certificate is from a trusted commercial CA. Both servers are 2012 R2.
Here is an image displaying the signature information. This script is in
C:\Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\modules\xPowerShellExecutionPolicy\DSCResources\xPowerShellExecutionPolicy
Here are the other related files. As you can see the MOF schema file is clearly present.
Here is the error I am seeing on the target server.

Does anyone know of there is a way to configure a UAG server to work with WinRM? We have a small number of servers and the "Server Manager" application as well as PowerShell are the way we generally keep an eye on our systems. This is not connected to the public Internet and is used strictly as a reverse proxy for certain locations.
I have added the admin clients to the Remote Management Computers
group on the UAG server and I have created a Firewall Policy allowing ports 5985 and 5986. It's not clear to me what else I might need to do here. And, of course, WinRM is installed and configured.
I'm having a problem when attempting to perform a PerfMon trace on a remote server. The server is Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. The reason for performing this trace is that SQL Server seems to be grabbing a lot of memory and then not releasing it back. This behavior is not surprising but I would like to find out when and why the memory is being allocated.
Let me me first explain, that I have performed this exact trace with the these counters counters many, many times on other versions of Windows Server OS. I consider myself pretty proficient with Perf Mon. I have verified that other snap-ins are working (Computer Management for example), the Remote Registry service is running, there is no firewall turned on, and I can connect via WMI (verified seperately with PowerShell WMI commands). And I am running the MMC as my Domain Admin account, not my standard user account. This same issue occurs when attempting the steps from a Server 2008 R2 SP1 test server as well.
I run an MMC and add Perf Mon. The same thing happens if I just run perfom.exe
directly.
At this point if I attempt to change to another computer I receive the following error
I then cancel that operation and try again. Add the Performance Monitor snap in and then click +
to add a counter. I change the system to the remote server at that level as shown in the image
and things seem ok. There is latency when attempting to access the counters in each group. If I open "Physical Disks" it shows 3: C, D, E which are exactly the named physical disks on the server. On my local system the are C and G.
I add all instances of the Physical Disks: Disk Read/Sec click 'OK' and what do I see in the monitor canvas? C and G as the disks added with the Computer column populated with my local systems hostname.
A collegue suggesting this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/abizerh/archive/2009/07/15/error-the-parameter-is-incorrect-when-connecting-to-a-server-using-wmi.aspx But that seems to be for some other OS version, the author does not state which, though.
What is going on here that I am unable to run a performance monitor trace on a remote server? Thank you for any suggestions.
We are having issues publishing a Windows based VisualSVN Server via an Appache mod_proxy.
Company IS policy does not allow SSL connections to be initiated from external networks and enter into the company network unterminated. To allow SSL connections to be initiated by external parties they use an Apache mod_proxy that accept the SSL connection transforms it to another protocol such as HTTP and then forwards it to the appropriate internal resource. This service runs as a proxy for all externally published resources so is quite sensitive for both security and availability. What we are seeing from the perspective of our team is that our infrastructure for publishing this service is working 100%. We are able to simulate external connections coming to the server and all data is being returned and function as expected with either Internet Explorer or repo browsing tools like TortoiseSVN.
The issue seems to be in the mod_proxy mentioned earlier; run by the network team. Simple HTTP connections to the SVN server work brilliantly. However, as soon as we attempt to use tools that require extensions to the HTTP protocol (TortoiseSVN for example) everything breaks down. WireShark reveals that the protocol being used is HTTP/XML and that the requests for the resources are not hitting the VisualSVN server at all.
Does anyone know if there are special configuration options needed to get mod_proxy to work with WebDAV tools like TortoiseSVN?
Here is what happenswhen browising via IE:
SSL Connetctopn initiated on client ---> mod_proxy -- transforms request to port 80 --> ISA Server 2006 --> VisualSVN Returns web Page
Works like a charm.
Here is what we see when we try to browse using Tortoise:
SSL connection initiated on client ---> mod_proxy no packects sent to ISA Server
I have an IIS7.5 (Server 2008 R2) based web service that I would like to make as independant on the current implementations technology as possible. I am using the URL rewrite module (http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/734/url-rewrite-module/) to remove the .asmx portion of the URL and that is working fine for the HTTP request portion. However, I still see .asmx in the WSDL file when I access it. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if so, what advice could be offered.
It doesn't seem like a hard problem to solve. But I have tries a number of things with "custom tags" and can't seem to get it working to save my life.
I am having a terrrible time getting this to work. I have configured the SharePoint site and the SQL Servers involved to use Kerberos. That has been confirmed working.
I then configured the SharePoint site's Reporting Services integration (trusted account), enabled anonymous access and enabled report builder. I can launch report builder without any issues at all. The problem comes when I try to save my report. When Report Builder is started Items->New-ReportBuilder Report it opens and display in the lower left hand corner "No current report server." When I close the Wizard dialog and click connect I enter http://server.fqdn.net and I receive the following error:
Connection failed:
Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL, 'http://servername.fqdn.net/'.
Make sure that the server is running, the URL is correct, and you have permission to use the server.
I have also tried http://servername.fqdn.net/reportsserver/. When I try that I receive a login prompt. When I enter my credentials it tries for a few seconds and then sends another login prompt. I installed the report server using default settings. The reporting services db is on the same server as sharepoint. The configuration and other databases are on a remote SQL Server. I am able to browse the http://servername.fqdn.net/reportsserver/ URL and see the directory structure in IE.
We are attempting to set up SharePoint Foundation to use Kerberos constrained delegation with ISA Server 2006. My current issue is that the alternate access mappings are not working properly.
Issues:
None of the drop down menus and other dialogs are working. Just say "loading" but dsiplay nothing.
View source shows that the wrong URL is being used - kdelegated rather than
sp10b.domain.com
Open in Windows Explorer function opens
\\kdelegated.localdom.net\library
and not via the correct https connection.Email a link function used the kdelegated URL as well.
I am using this article as my guide to publishing the site.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261814(office.12).aspx
Public Name : sp10b.domain.com
Internal Name: kdelegated.localdom.net
I am not using link translation on the ISA server as this should be taken care of via the AAM. Here is a shot of the AAM page
Thanks in advance for any advice!
I work for a smallish manufacturing firm and saving money is a top priority. I was wondering if any of you have ever built an iSCSI SAN from scratch for production.
Our file server is running low on storage capacity and the XP based security camera systems need some additional capacity after they increased the number of cameras without letting me know....
This is what I am looking at for my base with OpenFiler as the OS.
http://biz.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5394617&CatId=2684
I figure with that a decent mobo, RAID card, and some disks I can come up with a decent starter system for around $2000.
Any suggestions or advice?
