I’m trying to connect to my first VM that I've created on Azure.

These are the steps I went through:

When trying to connect I get this screen:

It correctly lists the remote computer address as mymachine1231.cloudapp.net but for some reason the gateway is pointing to a server that exists at a company for which I work. At the time of creating the machine, I was VPN'd into this company. But the machine that I created has nothing to do with this company. I'm not understanding where it got this gateway address from?

After pressing connect I get this message:

What's going on here? How do I specify what gateway to use, and what should it be?

I've disabled the firewall:

netsh firewall set opmode disable

I've made sure to accept all inbound and all outbound connections:

Is there anything that I should be installing or adding on to the server?

I am able to RDP into this computer without issue to the external IP address.

How do I get a connection to the internet from this machine?

There are actually two machines. Machine DC has no issues whatsoever with connecting to the internet, while machine Free1 cannot (although I can RDP into it).

The following are the settings for DC (the working machine):

While, these are the settings for the machine Free1, which does not have any internet connectivity (meaning that I cannot browse to any websites, or for example I am unable to run a Chrome install that requires an internet connection. How did I get the EXE onto the machine in the first place? I am able to copy and paste files from my local machine to these ec2 machines [regardless of whether they have internet connectivity]).

You are going to ask me how did I get the CHROME installation file on that machine? I can just copy and paste files from either virtual machine and my local physical machine to the virtual machines.

How do I get internet connectivity for Free1?

Also, a few more data points:

1. Both machines have been assigned the same security group.
2. Both machines are on the same subnet
3. Both machines have private and public IPs
4. I am able to RDP from my local physical machine into the ec2s.

I've added an inbound connection rule for my windows 8 firewall on windows server 2012:

I've restarted the Windows Firewall.

When I check that port using this program, it says that it is not listening!

What am I doing wrong? How do I enable connections on TCP 42?

I have a DC running Windows Server 2012 with an internal IP of 172.31.27.158. It is both a DC and a DNS Server.

Here's proof that DNS is running fine:

The machine that I would like to add to the domain has an internal IP of 172.31.18.222

When I run ipconfig on the client machine I get:

However, when I try to add it to the domain, I get this:

How do I add a machine to the domain?

I would like to capture php errors and http errors. I've enabled error logging in PHP, but I do not see where in IIS 8 I can enable errors.

Is this possible to do?

Using sql server 2012 I am connecting to a linked server with Pervasive SQL on it.

When I do select * or select field1,field2,field3....field15 I am getting this error:

Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

I feel like there is some kind of memory issue? It will not allow me to select more than a certain amount of data?

whereas if I select a small amount of data select field1,field2 it works without problems.

What am I doing wrong?

We are running a web server IIS8 on a windows server 2012 machine. I need to install PHP on it.

I found a nice tutorial here: http://www.nutstech.info/2012/09/windows-server-2012-server-core-setup.html

But, I am hesitant to follow it, and would like to know whether anyone has had experience installing PHP for IIS8 on a win server 2012 machine and whether there is an easy way of doing this?

Please note that I will be using php scripts to run stored procedures on a sql server 2012.

i have an asp.net application that uses windows authentication.

i installed IIS server 5.1 on my xp machine and it works great with the win authorization; however, i am unable to use "roles" because for some reason it does not synchronize with the active directory and i dont know how to get it to synchronize.

do you know what kind of configuration/settings i need for IIS to synchronize with the AD? when i go into the Web Site Administration Tool and look at the roles and users in roles in shows me no users. i did create the security groups in AD and added users to them but i do not see them in the Web Site Administration Tool.

this code runs but the command window closes immediately

what can i put inside the bat file to keep the window open?

i need to figure out how many of every file extension we have

i need make an exact copy of a database on the same server. is there an easy way to do this?

we do full backups daily. what is the point of doing full backups if we can just do differential? this is a newbie question, i do not mean for this to be too much of a profound question. your answer should be simple,.

We don't have a DBA and I have to do backups. We have only one database that is 3gb (the others are less than 100mb). The 3gb database is write-heavy, and has very important data. I set up daily backups for all the databases but i think that might not be enough.

• What are transactional log backups?
• what is my appropriate backup action plan for the 3gb database?
• how do i do the log backups and for what purpose?
• is a daily full backup enough?

i have several databases that need to be backed up

should i set the backup times the same? is there a good/bad way to do this?

i am concerned that since they are going to be backing up at the same time they will consume too many resources?? what is the best way to time database back ups?

i already have existing maintenance plans and i would like to edit the frequency at which they occur. is this possible to do?

I have a server called server7 where I want to give full access to a user that is on a different domain. How do I do this in windows server 2003?

i am doing a backup:

and i am getting this error msg:

BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

anyone know what is going on here?

The task which I want to run runs fine manually. But when I set a time for it to run using "Scheduled Tasks", it doesn't run.

What may be causing the problem? How do I fix it?

i have a sql server 2005 database without around 100 tables. i need to back it up every month. is there a way to automate this process? how would i do it? i am a newbie so please explain thoroughly

if it is a stored procedure please let me know what that procedure would look like and where to call it from.
