I would like to edit files in my /etc from winscp.
I have administrator privileges on this computer, How can i edit files and save them from Winscp in folders that require sudo be written before any modifying changes.
I would like to do this because I hate editing files in the terminal on a windows machine, and Winscp provides a nice editor which is often way more conv

I would like to setup a sub domain on my server at blah.example.com
I am able to reach my USERDIR for each user no problem at example.com/~user
I am unable to setup blah.example.com is there something more with the DNS.
What files do I need to edit. What are the important files to be noted when trying to achieve this setup.

I have enabled ssh on one of my computer at home, so I can get to it from my main IP.
No I have a domain where I forward it to my ip. Lets say this website is called
melikecandycoveredfrogs.com mapped to http://myip/
I am able to run
ssh myip and sucessfully connect but when i try ssh melikecandycoveredfrogs.com it doesn't seem to work. I have the ports forwarded and everything.
How can I achieve this? does the http:// cause the issue?

I have recently purchased a domain name. I can forward it to any ip, I would like.
I lets say i forwarded ilovecarssometimes.com (thats not what I have registered).
I pointed it at my IP:Port I am able to get to it no problems.
I have another folder where I keep my files at home I can get to it from my local network by going to LocalIP/~user but when i got to ilovecarssometimes.com/~user it doesn't seem to work.
What am I doing wrong? Maybe getting it to point to bmw.ilovecarssometimes.com would be a better solution?
Also resources that teach apache2 from a noobs perspective would be nice as well.

I have a git repo on a server. I would like to run a update hook on this when a push is done.
I am unable to get git revlist or take any information from the user because i can't enable tty.
I have written the hook in python. I would like it so I can retrieve commit history from my local repo and use that information in the process of my update hook, which checks for pattern in commits.
the problem i am having is that when i run the command from my script it is being executed on my server.
Please any advice would really be appreciated.
I was hoping to know if there is a way to direct all traffic to a specific url, to the server it corresponds to on our local network with out having to go out into the internet. It would be way more convenient for the system we have set up here.
