I have a website that is working fine for everyone but throws an error whenever I try and access it.
The web developer is saying it is a problem with my network. What should I check to confirm this?
I have tried via different internet connections and it always works on them.
I have tried using google's DNS server 8.8.8.8 and website still doesn't load.
If I ping the domain name, it returns the correct IP of the webserver.
The error I get is either a timeout or Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I have a VM running on Azure. I go into network connections and change the IP and gateway and I loose connection.
What options do I have to undo this change, is there any way to reconnect to an Azure VM?

I have 2 x 2008 R2 Domain Controllers and a 2008 Domain Controller and I was trying to add a 2012 R2 Domain Controller.
The Schema Version of my domain is 69 on one of the 2008 R2 DCs and 47 on all my other DCs.
How do I fix this so I can add a new DC?
My primary domain controller died over the weekend, its motherboard is being replaced tomorrow.
I have been told that the mac address of the server may change once the new motherboard is installed.
What issues should I be concerned about before I plug it back onto my network? Will AD just sync without any issues?
What about DHCP? It was a dhcp server before it died but I have had to install that elsewhere on my network. Once I power it back on there will be a conflict of dhcp servers.
Would getting a blackout blind reduce the temperature of my server room?

I have a complex configuration of multiple ADSL connections from multiple ISPs being load balanced by a Draytek Vigor 3300V+
My question is what DNS settings should I use. Should I use the ISP setting for connection A or the ISP settings for connection B or something different?
I am currently using Google DNS settings 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.8.4 on my routers and draytek but I fear that this might be the cause of some problems. Can anyone advise or point me in the right direction.
PS As soon as Fibre reaches my office I can abandon this complex setup
I have one user who keeps reporting that Outlook keeps disconnecting from our email server. All other users are fine.
Our email server is running Exchange 2010 and the client is running Outlook 2003. The disconnection only lasts a moment.
I have checked for logs on the client and Exchange server and can not see any reason for the disconnect, On the Client I get EventId 26 telling me Outlook has disconnected and reconnected but no reason why.
Can anyone give me some suggestions of things to try and track down where the problem could be?

I have found the following log file C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Logging\RPC Client Access which suggests that it is a problem with RPC sessions.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction for a solution?
I want to write a script that forces closed a specific file and then copies it from one server to another.
To manually do this I would use
Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Shared Folders --> Open Files
Is there a way to script this?
I have a large folder that I am replicating by dfs and I want to check that all files have been replicated correctly.
Currently I am running the following script at both ends.
cd e:\data\shared\
dir /a:-h /b /s > e:\data\shared\result.txt
and then using a text editor to tidy the file before using a diff tool to compare them.
Does anyone know a better way of doing this? Failing that does anyone know how to adapt my script to ignore all the files in the DfsrPrivate folders
Over the weekend I copied our company data from one hard drive to another larger one. I thought permission would have copied across but they haven't.
What is the best (and quickest) way to copy the permission that were originally set onto my new data, without having to copy all the data again? My users are now accessing the data so don't want to recopy the data as changes may be lost.

I want to create a nagios check of my secure website. All the check needs to do is login to the site with login details that I pass the script.
Does anyone know of a plugin or script that will allow me to do this?
I have tried using check_http, but I get success even if the website is redirected to an error page.
I have nagios setup as I want it, but last night it started alerting me of a problem pinging the internet. (I have a check that pings www.google.com to test that the internet is still working)
Now looking into this problem I can see that my network can ping the internet fine, the server that runs nagios can also ping the internet but if I run
./check_ping -H www.google.com -w -c
I get Network Unreachable
but
./check_ping -H [IP address of google] -w -c
I get ping OK
I can use ping on both ip and domain name and they both work fine.
Anyone got any clues as to where the problem lies, is it nagios or do I have a problem with DNS in my nagios box or in my network somewhere?

I have run dfsdiag /testdcs and I am getting the error:
Server has IP address with conflicting site associations
Now I think this is probably due to the fact that the server in question is linked to the others by a static VPN connection which gives it an ip address on the other network which is then confusing dfs.
Any ideas of what I have configured incorrectly?
Additional Info: Site1 has ip range 10.66.x.x and Site2 has 10.69.x.x but the server in site2 has an ip of 10.66.0.254 assigned by the VPN connection so it is thought of being in the wrong site
I have a user that is having trouble VPN to the office. What are you top troubleshooting things to try to find out where the problem is.
The error the user is getting is Error 806 - a connection between your computer and the VPN server has been established but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this is that there is at least one internet device between your computer and the VPN server is not configured to allow GRE protocol packets Verify that protocol 47 GRE is allowed on all personal firewall devices or routers. if the problem persists, contact your administrator.
This sounds like a problem with the users router which is blocking VPN traffic. Does anyone have any tips for fixing this error.
I have 6 x 500Gb drives formatted in raid 5. I have installed Windows Server 2003 R2 on 20Gb of this and want to format the rest as a backup drive (2.2Tb) is this possible?
I have found the following http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/LUN_SP1.mspx which I thought suggested it was possible with SP1 but now I am unsure. I know I have SP2 installed now and the disk management tools is showing my unallocated disk space in two chucks, 2027.97Gb and 278.25Gb, but I want to use both these chunks as one drives.
Is anyone able to explain how I can do this?

I have an exchange server which has mailboxes that are over 68GB, I understand that the maximum size of mailboxes is only 75GB which we expect to pass in the very near future. What can I do about this?
I have another license of exchange that I could install and setup, is it possible to do this and move some mailboxes on to this and essentially give myself a 150GB limit spread across 2 servers?

I have exchange 2003 installed on Windows Server 2003, and I have a Fedora Core 9 machine with nagios installed. I use nagios to send emails about server issues which has been working fine for years until today.
When an email is sent from my fedora box I get the following error.
550 5.7.1 x.x.x.x has been blocked by Spamhaus XBL
Now I assume the IP address of my fedora box has been marked by Spamhaus as Spam. Apart from moving nagios to a different IP is there any way of getting emails through. Is there a way of bypassing Spamhaus for this one ip address?
Any help on this issue is very gratefully received.
We have Exchange installed in our head office which provides all our email. We have a branch office which connects via VPN, but this means email is very slow for them because it has to go over the VPN link.
We have an extra Exchange License the we are considering installing on the Branch Office Server, and moving some of the mail accounts onto it.
Has anyone done anything similar and can point out potential problems and pitfalls, or can point out good resources to help plan a move like this. Both servers are running Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2003.
I am hesitant to dive in and try it until I know how it may affect existing email accounts and access.

I am familiar with using rsync to back up various files from my system but what is the best way to completely restore a machine.
What I have tried in the past is:
This way sort of works but I do not think every package that was installed works 100% afterwards.
I want to be able to restore my system with the minimum amount of effort and everything work the same as at the moment the backup was taken. Also if possible install to other machines and essentailly have two machines with the same packages and data.
I have Symantec Endpoint Protection Installed on a Windows Server 2003 machine, this has VPN links to two other offices with Windows Server 2003 machines. I am trying to replicate Symantec Endpoint Protection to these machines.
I have installed the software at the other sites and started the replication wizard, but it is still going and I started it a few days ago. I know it is doing something because the out.log file is updated every 10 minutes.
Does anyone have any experience of setting this up or any idea how long the process will take?
