I've heard of the OpenManage stuff, but from what I've read you need a windows app called "IT Assistant" to connect to all your OSMA agents on the servers.

Is there an open source / *nix friendly web based "Controller" application which allows you to view and do everything you can do in the OpenManage local web server application?

We have a Cisco 3548XL switch. Fa0/1 and Fa0/2 are configured with the:

    port group 1 

option.

This gives me this:

    switch#show etherchannel summary 
    Flags:  d - default     D - down
            I - in use

    Group Ports
    ----- -----
    1     Fa0/1(I) Fa0/2(Id)

The trouble is, I am unsure which bonding driver option to use on the linux box.

The linux box is connected to Fa0/1 and Fa0/2 with eth0 and eth1 respectively. The bond is up with 802.3ad (LACP) selected as the driver option.

I am now of the understanding that the version of IOS on the 3500 series of switches doesn't support LACP.

My questions are:

• Does the 3548 switch use PaGP natively
• Should I use a different bonding method on the linux box such as balance-rr (0)
• If I use a bonding method such as balance-tlb (5) that doesn't require any special switch support on the linux box, should I disable Etherchannel on the switch?
• Shall I just find a switch that supports LACP 802.3ad such as a 2950 with IOS12.1 release 22?

I have OpenVZ running on a box with CSF / LFD installed.

I like the way LFD can alert me of suspicious processes running on the HardwareNode itself.

However, LFD is emailing me about every suspicious process that the VE's are running.

Is there a way to make LFD ignore the /vz/root directory entirely?

I'm running Windows Server 2003 Standard (Much to my distaste), I've applied all the security updates and now I'm stuck with a box that's constantly being hammered by svchost.

The process ID is always around the 700 mark and if I use tasklist /svc, I can see that RpcSs is causing it.

I have tried various things that have come up in google searches such as turning automatic software update services off, removal of antivirus software, removal of systray items, removal of remote screen services such as RDP, VNC, LogMeIn etc.

I'm still stuck with this RpcSs running at 90%, I'm completely at the end of my tether with this now but I don't really want to sit through a complete re-install just to see if it happens again.

When using RIPE web DB search system, you can add the "-B" flag to list hidden attributes of an object.

I'm trying to find a way of adding the "-B" flag somewhere within the following command:

> whois -h whois.ripe.net ASXXXXX 

However, the whois program itself returns that it's not a valid flag.

I've tried echoing it in via stdin with no joy.

We have an application server located at http://foo.bar .

It needs to be accessed via http:// wibble/foo using reverse proxying.

This I've managed, however there is stuff in http:// foo.bar which references from /

EG:

/images/blah.jpg

So it's trying to get http:// wibble/images/blah.jpg instead of

http:// wibble/foo/images/blah.jpg

Any idea how I can get it to insert the /foo prefix for anything referenced from / ?
