So I'm trying to install Visual Studio 2015 Community on my Windows Server 2012 R2 box which will end up being a Jenkins build server. Attempting to do so gives an error saying that I need to install KB 2919355.

So I attempt to download the right KB from the Microsoft download page. The two files that I would assume to work are either Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64.msu and Windows8.1-KB2919355-x86.msu (just to try) and neither update work, saying that the update is not applicable.

I've not been able to get this working and I haven't been able to find a proper way to fix this. Can anyone offer any suggestions or solutions? Thanks!

I have a pfSense box setup where my WAN interface (em0) is set up in my local network (192.168.1.100) and my LAN interface (em1) is a private network of its own (10.0.0.1). The end goal is to have the 10.0.0.x network as private malware lab where devices on that network cannot talk to anything on the 192.168.1.x network directly. Though, I would like to punch holes in the pfSense firewall to allow traffic from 192.168.1.x network to access services in the private network, such as FTP, HTTP, SMB, SSH, etc. So if I FTP to 192.168.1.100 (WAN interface) then it'll route though to the FTP server running on a device internal to 10.0.0.x. Currently I can see that my FTP server gets a TCP SYN packet, but nothing else happens.

And I can see some FTP traffic through pfSense with tcpdump.

Here's my NAT port forwarding rules (they also have an associated filter rule).

And also if it's helpful, my LAN firewall rules as well.

I thought that maybe there was an error with my blocking rules to block 192.168.1.x traffic from the 10.0.0.x network, but I have that rule disabled. I'm at a total loss and don't understand what is going wrong, so any help would be super appreciated!

I've got a bit of a unique and interesting setup going on from what I can tell, with an interesting issue. I have a Windows Server 2012 box as my main web server hosting website.com. At http://website.com/sites/ I have a reverse proxy setup with ARR to point everything back to a Wordpress WPMU install on a Debian box running Apache. Here's the rewrite rule configuration:

Now, everything works properly but the one thing messing up is that if I go to any wp-admin/ page through the reverse proxy, I get a redirect loop:

For the sake of being accurate with what I'm describing, here is my .htaccess file and my wp-config.php file (obvious stuff omitted).

What I find interesting is that if I change my local hosts file to point my domain to the Debian IP address and bypass the IIS ARR, then wp-admin/ works just fine, no issues. It just seems that my issue is somewhere with the translation between IIS and Apache? I'm at a loss for what to look at and debug this any further.

I'm in the process of reading up on documentation and setting up OpenLDAP to handle authentication throughout my network, for email, web services, user accounts, any anything else that I could throw at it. It's not going to be anything SUPER big, but I want it to feel live, since I'm doing it in my home lab.

What are some good things to keep in mind or something to make sure I always remember when setting up OpenLDAP? Should I make sure that I always travel over SSL? Should I use Kerbeos? Anything would be appreciated to keep in mind.

So I'm trying to setup vsFTPd on my Ubuntu server. I did aptitude install vsftpd to install the program, but when I go to /etc/ to look for the vsftpd.conf file, it isn't there. Is there a way that I can get it?

So I installed ProFTP on my Ubuntu 10.10 server. Using FileZilla, I can connect and authenticate, but I cannot get the directory listing. Here are the last few lines returned to me:

So whenever I connect either my Windows 7 computer, or Windows Server 2008 R2 server to an SSTP VPN running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box, I lose internet connection. One suggestion I got was, on the client side, open the VPN properties, go to Networking, IPv4, Advanced, DNS tab, and uncheck "Register this connection's address in DNS". But even with doing that, I still don't have much of an internet connection to browse the web or ping a website such as Google.

Any idea what I can do to fix this?

So in the work of doing backups, I need a batch script that would allow me to delete files in a specified directory, that are older than lets say, 3 days. This script will be set as a scheduled task to run at a specified time every day.

Does anyone have any experience with connecting an Ubuntu 10.10 machine to a SSTP VPN server? I haven't found anything too great of information on how to do it.

Whenever I upload a file to my FTP server running VSFTP, the file permissions on it are defaulted to 600 (rw-------). How can I change it to 775 (rwxr-xr-x)?

So I have Nagios installed on my server and right now I can access it at http://server/nagios/. What I would really like to be able to do is have it at http://nagios.server/. How would I be able to change Nagios to allow me to do that? I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.

So I know how to use the mail command to send mail through ssh, as in typing mail -s "Subject here" [email protected], then typing out the message, hitting CTRL + D to stop composing, then press enter to not have a Cc.

How I'm curious, how would I send an email through a non-interactive shell script? Just so I can send an email if a backup decided to fail, or whatever reason.

So I have a web application that runs on Tomcat, but I also have Apache running, so I can't forward Tomcat to use port 80, so now its just sitting at 8080. Is there anyway I can configure the two of them to kinda "work together" so if I put in http://app.domain.com/ it would go to the Tomcat application? Thanks!

So I have finally set up my certificates correctly and such, so I'm trying to connect to my VPN. The Windows client is giving me an error with the code "0x800704D4". I looked into it and was told to visit a URL, which I did, replacing the FQDN with my own. I'm getting a page saying that there is an 503 Service Unavailable error.

Any idea how I can fix this so I can finally get my VPN set up?

I'm in the process of setting up a VPN server, and with the environment, it seems that the SSTP VPN would be the best choice for me. I don't care to buy a certificate, I can sign one myself, though I don't know how to do so.

Are there any good guides out there for signing a certificate for self use and setting it up with a working SSTP VPN system? I've been trying to set up VPN for about a week now and I've almost given up, this is about to be my last hope.

EDIT: Alright so I have a self signed certificate joined to IIS so that https works. But now when I'm connecting my client through SSTP VPN, I get an error message that says:

"Error 0x800B0109: A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider."

Any idea what to do now?

I just installed a Routing and Remote Access VPN service on Windows Server 2008, though I'm not totally sure what ports I need open for that, or what type of VPN I'm using. L2TP, PPTP?

So I have an Amazon EC2 box running Windows Server 2008 with Active Directory installed on it. I also have a Windows 7 virtual machine, which is set to use the Active Directory box as its DNS and WINS server. I'm trying to join the virtual machine to the domain, and I'm asked for authentication. I give authentication, wait a minute, and I get an error saying:

The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "ad.chigs.me":

The network path was not found.

How can I fix this so that I'll be able to join the domain?

So my Active Directory setup is set to work for computers running Vista or higher. I didn't foresee the need to have a Windows Server 2003 computer on the domain, so how can I now be able to join the 2003 computer to the 2008 domain? Thanks

So I changed the nameserver in the /etc/resolv.conf to the DNS server I want to use, but whenever the server gets restarted for whatever reason, it reverts back to the default DNS server. How can I change it so that it is a permanent change? Thanks.

Hey, so I'm curious as to how I would be able to connect an Ubuntu machine on my network to do authentication via the Active Directory Domain Controller, also on my network. I've done a little bit of searching, but have gotten a little confused, like with Kerberos and such.

Any help would be appreciated!
