need to do a bare metal restore of a 2008R2 HyperV guest. Windows Backup is on USB. The HypeV host where the new VM is setup is 2012 R2.

Started new VM and passed through the USB drive but the restore tool cannot see the drive. When I open a command prompt and run diskpart from the 2008R2 boot disk, I do not see the disk but in the VM settings I can see the disk is connected.

Do I need to load the virutal scsi controller drivers? I tried but it doesn't find anything in the guest CD either.

Any ideas?

On a linux box running postfix+amavis+spamassassin, we are thinking of implementing bayes filtering. This system already does spam filtering (without bayes) at the moment for multiple customer domains.

The question is, how should training be done in this scenario? Would we need to collect spam and ham from each client or would just one do and have a global database?

A client recently changed their UPS and now claims that their server is not coming back up after am extended power outage. They have tested their system and it will keep the last state, so if the power is removed while on, it will automatically power up again.

The question is, in Linux you can request a halt so that when power returns it will restart, but how do you do the same in Windows Server?
