I'm trying to create a scheduled task that will run once daily on a dedicated machine. The task will run an exe. That exe does a bunch of things, including running automation that manipulates the mouse/kb etc.
Is that possible (on any windows based OS)?
I'm testing a client machine that makes requests to a biztalk server using a forefront machine as a web proxy. Upon first test I put in an invalid name/password into the receive port and received the correct error message (407). Then, I set the correct name/password and everything worked correctly.
From there, I kept the correct information in the receive port but put an invalid name/password into the send adapter but the process completed successfully (should have failed with 407).
I've ensured that both the recieve and send ports are not bypassing the proxy for local addresses.
So the only thing that seems to make sense is if TMG is caching the authentication request coming from the machine I'm working on.
Is this thinking correct, and if so, does anyone know how to disable it in TMG?
I've got a friend with a 1tb raid10 and 2 separate hot swappable 1tb drives runnin win7 ultimate.
I created a scheduled task that would create a system image backup of the main raid array to the 1tb drive. I setup the task, and tested it with the first drive and it worked as expected.
The idea is that the whole system is backed up such that if the raid array suffers catastrophy (ie. house fire) then he can toss the drive into another machine, startup and be good able to access all of his information.
Now, after the backup is done once a week, he takes the drive, tosses it in a fire proof safe, and takes the second 1tb drive out of he safe and throws it in the machine.
I asked to be sure and the second drive is assigned the same drive letter, so the backup should run as expected. But I'm hearing that it doesn't. I haven't taken a look at the system yet, so I don't know a whole lot more outside of that but is there anything that anyone can think of that would cause any backups to fail in this situation?
There's some legal that the boss would like added to all outgoing e-mail. Without creating a signature and relying on users to remember to add it to their e-mail, can all outgoing e-mails have a signature appended to their e-mail?

What do they mean by '5 storage groups' for the standard version and how do those relate to CALs?
I have a win server 2k3 machine as a domain controller and a dhcp server. All of the wired machines work fine connecting to the domain controller and authenticating but the users that connect to the wireless router (and get their IPs from there) can't find the domain controller and access any of its resources.
So I ask, how do you get a computer to locate a domain controller on a network when it connects to a router on that network?

edit 2>I had a chance to try this out yesterday and it occurs to me that I left out an important piece of information: The router is the internet access as well.
Turning DHCP off on the router was no good; I could get all of the users logged onto the network and authenticated with the DC, but there was no internet. I did it the other way around and enabled DHCP on the router and disabled it on the server.
It works, every machine is on the internet, but I suspect that users aren't authenticating with the DC. I think this is the case because:
I find it odd though because I can still access those resources (after a restart).
Maybe there's another way to do this, but I'd like to periodically be able to download windows updates to disk (not via windows update - which as far as I can tell, just installs them and then that's the last you see of them) so that I can use something like nLite to insert them into another windows cd/dvd just in case I need to do an install on a machine that can't get access to the network or if I have to install on a new server (it also helps for unattended installs). I already created a new disk with RAID drivers so that I don't have the no-diskette problem when fresh installing windows server 2k3.
Is there anywhere to just find these easily without having to scan a ridulous amount of KB articles for the ones I need?
I'm not sure how, but something happened with the IUSR account on my server. I host OWA and a personal site on the server, and one fateful day, I did something stupid (I'm sure; I don't recall what though) and both sites stared asking for domain logins. OWA also was refusing to show any images on the page.
I did some searching and found out that it's a permission problem with the anonymous login account (IUSR_MACHINE). I changed that account to be an admin account (no other account would work) and it 'works' but I obviously don't want this to be the case.
I followed the instructions here: http://windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/48361/how-can-i-check-the-password-of-the-iusr-and-iwam-local-accounts-on-a-machine.html for resetting the IUSR account password, but after setting the anonymous login to that account in IIS, and restarting it, it produced no change.
I'm running mysql on a server, and I've created a backup project. I've also set the schedule for the project to be 7:00 am every day, but it doesn't run on schedule (well, ever actually).
I can manually run the backup project (and often do, I restore the backup file to a test db schema for usability tests and the like) so I know the project is fine... it's just the scheduling part.
I should also note that the account that I use on the server is always logged in (long story, don't ask). Could that be the problem?
We have a bunch of tablets at the office. We have a pos consumer grade router for these tablets.
I'm setting all of them up and for some reason, consistently on all of them (toshiba portege and thinkpad x31 are the 2 models we have) the wireless will connect to the wireless after setting the password, but it's always limited or no connectivity (with an emphasis on the "no connectivity" part)...
until...
I connect it to the network via wire. It will instantly connect to the wireless after authenticating the wired connection. Unplugging the wired connection doesn't affect the wireless either. It'll work just fine.
Any idea what's going on here?

Currently, our setup at the office goes something like this:
If you're on a computer that is out of the office, you can go to http://site.domain.com/folder and you're fine. The page will show up.
If you're on the office domain, it won't. Instead you have to use http://server/folder.
Now, I'm told that this is because we have our main provider forward site.domain.com/ to our server here (while keeping the main company site hosted on their servers).
I'm wondering why, a little more specifically, this might be and if there is a workaround, or a setting that I can have the admin make so that in the office, all users will be able to go to http://sub.domain.com/folder. I ask because I am deploying the software we're making there via ClickOnce.
I've started to deploy tablets to certain staff that are often out of the office and I'm wondering how to consolidate their login credentials so that they can still login to their machine with their normal domain credentials, when they're disconnected or connected to a generic (home) network connection.
Basically, I'd like to have no barriers for them checking their mail (via outlook 2k3), checking network folders, and plainly logging into the machine. (They can login to the machine using the local user account, but the preferences aren't consistent and don't propagate between the accounts).
I'd be fine with the network folders being unavailable (as I don't think it'd be possible anyway) but at least I'd like their e-mail and xp login to work as expected.
The machines are running xp pro, the server is SBS 2k8, and exchange 2k3.
Exchange is available via web @ mail.company_domain.com/exchange but my users don't want to have to think "Oh I have to check my e-mail via the web if I'm not in the office." because they're so accustomed to using outlook and its myriad features (and I don't blame them tbh).
Is this possible?
Our company has acquired another and as a result, their employees. We didn't get any of their equipment, but they did give us all of their users' outlook pst files. I was able to open that pst file in each user's copy of outlook. The imported pst file acts as another account or set of personal folders, so each user has 2 sets of mail folders, 2 calendars, 2 task lists etc. I want to merge these all into the single default mailbox folders.
When saving the events/tasks it says that the reminders won't fire because they are not in the calendar or tasks folder - they ARE synchronized in exchange though.
I found out about the outlook switch /resetfolders but the documentation on that switch is sparse with what it actually does, and this is not really within my realm of competency to be confident that her mailbox won't be adversely affected. Not only that, but each of these new users (though it was a small company) has to maintain 2 of everything.
Our server has a number of shared folders for the different departments to store stuff in. Now I have an account that I can use to access the folders available to me and things used to work fine... I'd navigate to the folder, enter my name/pass and get access to whatever I needed.
One day, I logged into the network share with an account that had less permissions than my own, and ever since I've only been able to use the permissions of that one user account. I can't seem to find where I can reset my network share permissions/account so that I can re-enter it whenever I navigate to the shares.
The only things I can seem to find online are how to change folder permissions on my local drive.
Walking by the server closet I noticed that one of our servers (namely the one that hosts the company software/data) is beeping: low-high repeat. As soon as it started, I backed up all of the data stores to separate drives, but it's been fine since it started beeping yesterday afternoon.
Now I'm only the lowly software developer and our server/network admin is n/a so far, and no desktop machine I've ever worked on or with has had any serious problems before.

I need to be able to simulate high bandwidth/high latency/high packet loss on my pc for the purpose of testing the software that I'm writing.
I've seen some software that you can install on a separate machine that will act as a throttling router/gateway but 1) I didn't really trust the companies that I found 2) A separate machine isn't available atm.
I was talking to the network admin and he told me that he has heard of software that will throttle my own NIC (he didn't mention packet loss/latency though). Is anyone aware of any software that can do this?

About once or twice a day lately the mysql service will crap out and the only breadcrumb that gets left behind is a system event log saying:
Changed limits: max_open_files: 2048 max_connections: 800 tablecache: 619
Now originally I thought it could be because a lot of users (well, here 20 is a 'lot') were logged in to the software that uses the db, but today, it happened when only 3-4 users were logged in.
I'm currently checking the software/ORM to see if it opens any unneeded connections, but I'm wondering if there could be anything I could do with mysql to fix it.
I saw this but all of the recommended innodb settings seem to be less than what I have set already.
I'm considering setting up replication of our mysql db to be able to have local slaves in each of our branch offices, while having the master in the main office to improve application performance (significantly) at our branch offices.
The db itself isn't that large (<1gb) but I'm wondering; considering 200-300 record updates/min tops: how fast is replication? (assuming, first, a 5mb generic dsl connection, faster if necessary - trying to keep costs as low as possible but the money is there for more)
Are whole tables replicated in batches? Is the replication done, on demand, as each record in a table is updated (from the docs, I think I'm seeing that it's configurable)?

I'd like to setup an ftp such that my users (and some software I write) can upload documents, and have those documents saved on the server but I don't want to allow users to see the contents of the ftp folder - essentially the ftp looks empty at all times to the user.
