I have virtual hosts in /var/www/site1 and /var/www/site2 folders. I want to restrict access to the files outside document root in apache virtual host, i.e. site1 could not access files of site2.

Right now this scripts in /var/www/site1 works fine, which is not good:

$filename = "/var/www/site2/somefile";
$handle = fopen($filename, "r");
$contents = fread($handle, filesize($filename));
echo $contents;

How to solve this problem please?

My server is running Ubuntu and I have installed ejabberd as one of the famous xmpp servers in order to organize chatting system. Ejabbered is working fine with text messages, but I would like to know whether it supports audio/video calls or not?

If not, could you please tell me which xmpp server to use for this purpose?

When trying to connect to mysql server via telnet I am getting following error:

telnet localhost 3306
Trying ::1...
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection timed out

I tried telnet with 127.0.0.1, hostname also, but getting same error message. But I can connect with mysql -u username -p once I am in the server.

Here is the result of netstat:

netstat -na | grep mysql
unix  2      [ ACC ]     STREAM     LISTENING     4540495  /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

netstat -na | grep 3306
tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:3306            0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN

What could be possible problems? If you need some more details I could provide it without any problems.
