I have delegated permissions to our Executive Assistant to change Users Titles, Departments, Cell Number, and such. But I would like for her to use Outlook to change these attributes but it doesn't seem to work.
Is there a tool she can use to change these attributes that does not include having to install the Admin PAK nor having to create a custom MMC Taskpad? That method seems so 1990-ish.
I have a HyperV cluster made up of 3 hosts. Each host is connected to both of my Nexus 5548 switches running in an etherchannel. LACP on the switch and NIC teaming using Broadcom 802.3ad on the server side. This gives me 2GB of bandwidth and also provides fault tolerance.
The problem I am having occurs when I perform a live migration. Before the live migration both Nexus switches show the MAC of the VM in the ARP table. After the migration one switch shows the MAC of the VM and the other shows the MAC of the HyperV host which it moved to.
I ran a packet capture and saw the HyperV host send a gratuitous ARP with the IP of the VM and the MAC of the host instead of the MAC of the VM. I lose layer 3 connectivity when this happens. I have to manually clear the ARP entry from the switch or wait about 7 minutes for it to correct itself.
I did some looking around and people are having similar issues when dealing with NIC teaming using Broadcom. Has anyone seen this? Any advice?

I switched to Smart Load Balancing and the VM Live Migrates without losing any network connectivity. However, the ARP tables on the Nexus switches are in sync but they show the MAC address of the Host and not the VM. This is opposite of what I thought it would do. Shouldn't the ARP tables of the switches show the MAC of the VM? If not and they are suppose to show the MAC of the host, why?
I have one DHCP server running Windows Server 2008 R2. It is configured with one Superscope which contains 5 member scopes. One scope for each one of my subnets.
Here is the problem, if I am on VLAN 12 I get a VLAN 12 IP but if I disconnect my laptop and walk over to a port that is on VLAN 1 and reconnect nothing works. Makes sense because my laptop still has the VLAN 12 IP address. I perform a ipconfig /release followed by a renew but I get the same IP address which is still a VLAN 12 address!
I am guessing this is because my laptop is requesting to have the same IP address. How can I have my laptop not request the same IP? Or better yet, how can I configure DHCP to know that the laptop is on another VLAN and not to give it the same IP?
I have a Server with a statically set IP address of 10.200.0.30
It has a Dynamic DNS entry matching its computer name to its IP
Every hour on the hour it changes its DNS entry to a random IP address in my 10.54.0.0 subnet.
What in the world is going on here? The IP is statically set on the NIC. DNS just feels like changing its entry ever hour.
When I checked the timestamp I also noticed that just about all my DNS entries are updated every hour.
My DHCP lease time is set to 6 hours for both the 10.200 zone and 10.54 zone.
The 10.200 zone has all IP addresses excluded from the range. Reservations only.

A DHCP broadcast request is sent to my DHCP server. How does it decide which scope to pull an address from?
My problem is that a client that should be getting a 10.200.0.0 address is actually getting an IP address from the 10.16.0.0 scope and I can't figure out why.
I am currently using 10.54.0.0 /19 for all my desktop clients and printers. We have approx 550 clients/printers.
Besides bandwidth, which is barely being utilized, are there any other reason to split up my data network or go to a smaller subnet than the /19 that I am currently using?
Deploy a MSI using Group Policy. Sounds easy right?
This MSI (CAD Client Configuration.msi) prompts for the IP address of our UCCX server. Most MSI's I have dealt with I can install silently uisng /q but this one not so much.
I can't assign it to the computer object becuase the prompt for the IP address is never visible.
I can't assignt it to the user object becuase they don't have the credintials to run to program.
I need to install this on 250 computers within the next 5 hours. Any advice??
I downloaded MDOP and noticed the AIS portion. I did some research but is anyone using this feature? Is it useful?
Situation
Trying to introduce Windows 7 Clients into my Server 2003 environment. Having problems with Folder Redirection via GPO.
I created a Test OU which contains Two Computer accounts. One Windows 7 and One Windows XP. It also contains Two User Accounts. One Domain Admin account and one Basic User account.
On my Windows 7 Client I created a GPO and Linked it to my Test OU.
User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection > Documents
Setting: Basic (Redirect everyone's folder to the same location)
Path: %HomeShare%%HomePath%
Grant User exclusive rights to Documents = Disabled
Move the contents of Documents to the new location = Enabled
Also apply redirection policy to Windows 2000, XP, etc = Enabled
Policy Removal Behavior = Leave Contents
Music, Pictures, and Videos = Follow the Documents folder
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Offline Files
Synchronize all offline files before logging off = Disabled
Synchronize all offline files when logging on = Disabled
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer
Turn off Windows Libraries features that rely on indexed file data = Enabled
Folder redirection works perfectly fine on my Windows XP computer when logged in as the domain admin or basic user accounts.
Folder redirection does not work on Windows 7 with either user account. WHY???
