I have the nginx.conf file shown below.

I want to run both ssh and a webserver on port 443/SSL.
Also known as SSL-port-multiplexing.
At the same time, I want to use ssl-passthrough with SNI.

For ssh-multiplexing, I use $ssl_preread_protocol.
For SSL-SNI-passthrough, I use $ssl_preread_server_name

If I set proxy_pass $upstream;, then ssh works fine, but the webpage(s) don't work.
If I set proxy_pass $name;, then SSL-SNI-passthrough works, but ssh can't be accessed.

How can I combine the two map instructions ? e.g. something like

The problem is I need a way to combine the protocol-selection with the server_name-selection.

On my local machine, I want to setup a (web-)server that receives data that is sent (via http/https) to IP 65.55.44.109 (vortex.data.micorosoft.com).

In order to do that, I need to forward all IP traffic on 65.55.44.109 to 127.0.0.1 on MY machine, so that I can make the hosts-file-entry

65.55.44.109  somedomain.com  

and then open the browser on that machine and enter http://somedomain.com and get the webpage from the webserver at 127.0.0.1.
Now of course that will only work on the machine with the hosts-file entry (my machine).

On Linux, I can do this with

iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -d 65.55.44.109 -j DNAT --to-destination 127.0.0.1

(need to re-add on restart)

On Windows, I haven't been able to figure out how to do this. The closest thing I've come accross is

netsh interface portproxy add v4tov4 listenaddress=65.55.44.109 listenport=80 connectaddress=127.0.0.1 connectport=80

but that doesn't work, and I have no idea why.

Is there anything I do wrong ? Or is there anything else I can do ?

and so I thought the following might work

Add-NetNatStaticMapping -NatName NATnetwork -Protocol TCP -ExternalIPAddress 65.55.44.109 -InternalIPAddress 127.0.0.1 -InternalPort 80 -ExternalPort 80

but I only get an error (invalid classname), with no further information to be found via google.

Can this be done somehow on Windows (Windows 10) ?

Note: It's sufficient to forward only port 80, but all ports would be nicer.
NO loopback or non-loopback-interface with IP 65.55.44.109 may be created on the host-machine.
It must absolutely be done via DNAT-only.
The host-machine does not have a network-interface with IP 65.55.44.109, only 192.168.x.x.
Just setting the hosts-file to

127.0.0.1  somedomain.com  

is also insufficient, because then any call for dns-address-resolution of somedomain.com will yield the IP 127.0.0.1 instead of 65.55.44.109

I've added the file google-site-verification, but the problem is, the asp.net fastcgi-application is a MVC application, so it doesn't find the controller called "google79af7e588a34905e0.html".

I'm trying to overwrite the location in the virtual host config file, so it doesn't forward the request for google79af7e588a34905e0.html to the fastcgi-application, but it doesn't work.

I've restarted nginx, but it doesn't make a difference...
What am I doing wrong ? I've tried removing the equal-sign in "location = /" but that doesn't work, and I've tried moving the location overwrite before the main location, but that doesn't make a difference either. I've also changed the hostname forth-and-back, just to see whether I'm in the right configuration file, and i am, when I change the domain name, i start getting 404.

Then one can access the application on two ways:

(without .com, can't add local links)

Now I can open the application on http://vmsomething.com just fine.
If I try to open the application on http://vmsomething.com/my_application_virtdir , i get this error:

I am not the admin of the server, and I don't know how he configured it.
Now to my question:

• What causes this error ?
• How to fix it ?

Question:

Is it possible to use nginx on Windows to serve ASP.NET / ASP.NET MVC pages using the Microsoft .NET framework ?
I know one can do it with mono-fastcgi, but I was wondering if it is possible with the Microsoft Framework alone, that is to say, without mono or any of its components.

Question:
We have a asp.net login page (SSL), with username and password.
You enter them, you click ok, if the credentials are OK, you get redirected to the navigation page.
If the credentials are incorrect, you get redirected to the login page, with a box appearing "username or password incorrect".

Now we just tested IE 10 on our 10 demo servers.
It worked everywhere, except on 2 (the database and software is on the same version everywhere).

On two of the 10 servers, when you login using a correct password and username, you get redirected to the login page without a username and password incorrect error instead of the navigation page.
I tested for almost 45 minutes, and found out that the reason the 2 projects didn't work (which are on the same server),
but on a different server than the other 8 that worked, is that the system time on the windows 8 machine with IE 10 was one day into the future.

What kind of setting in the SSL settings/certificate could be the reason for the different behaviour on the two servers ?
And why does it show the login page (already SSL) but not the navigation page ?

And why does the webapplication fail, and not the connection to the site ?

In a Windows domain, is it possible to create a Active Directory group "WebDevelopers", which is just like the normal user group, except that users also have admin rights on their local IIS (e.g., inetmgr & iisreset)?

Note:
Not admin rights as a whole, because then they could install programs and modify systems.

Stupid question:

I've successfully installed Oracle 11g on my Linux box.

I can connect to it and retrieve the countries table via C#/mono just fine, with the below connectionstring, which uses the HR account 'as is', after default installation (+new password +unlocked).

When I setup my OWN DNS-server, what exactly do I put into the SOA entry ? I mean I understand what I have to put into ttl, resp_contact, refresh, retry, expire minimum, id, zone, type and host field.

But what exactly is primary NS ? If I'm setting up a first DNS server, this would be the primary server itselfs, so ...

what I don't quite understand what i have to put into that field. I mean the primary ns would be the server that I set up, wouldn't it ?

Question:

We have a 3rd party portal that makes a copy of a html/aspx page, and puts it into a temporary folder, CHANGING THE EXTENSION to .HTML in all cases (also it the root page was .aspx).

Unfortunately, that means it does not execute the ASP.NET inline scripts...

So my question:
Is it possible to get IIS 6 & 7 to interprete (and then execute) a HTML page as aspx page ?
(It's not possible to change the 3rd party portal)

I'm using the nginx webserver on Linux for domain "example.com". I forward everything via fastcgi to fastcgi-mono-server4.

Now, everything works fine, I just want to set several index pages, e.g. something like:

fastcgi_index Default.aspx default.aspx index.html index.htm;

But somehow, it doesn't accept multiple values. How can I do this ? Is it possible somehow ? I also tried comma and semicolon as separator, but nothing works...

Question:

I have a Linux server where I connect to via ssh. It works fine, and also, X-forwarding works fine (in the local network).

Now I wanted to run a server program under wine. because it's a Windows application, it doesn't run on the command line, so I have to start it via x-forwarding. So far not a problem, works wonderfully.

My problem is I connect to the target computer with X-forwarding, like this:
ssh ip.of.target.computer -X

then I start

gnome-session 

from the ssh terminal. Gnome loads and i can start the graphical server application via wine. But when I want to logout from the X-forwarding, that closes the gnome-session (and the server X-window-application)...

How can I login, start a X-window application, and then logout ssh without closing the X-application ?

I have written the below program to notify me by email when my Linux system has been rebooted from a power failure.

The way I do this is enableing power-fail recovery in the BIOS, and then register in a SQlite database every time the computer has been started up or shut down.

When the last shut-down time is NULL in the SQlite database, I have discovered a powerfailure, and send the email notification.

Now, I've done most of it, but I still need to add this program to the respective startup and shutdown scripts.

Where do I need to put it? Special attention needs to be given to the fact that it will send powerfail notification via smtp server to my android phone, which means the startup script should only run after the network (perferably wireless, too) has been initialized.

I want to send email from a C++ program.

I want to do it using sendmail. Well, actually I don't care how, I just found that none of the smtp libaries work...

The way to do this, I found via google, is this:

The problem is, the mail never arrives at destination. Now what I find peculiar: Shouldn't there be a need for a smtp-server URL? Such as smtp.my-provider.com:25 ?

Question:

I've set the BIOS of my server to automagically resume the last state (running/switched off) after a powerloss.

Now, how can I send myself an E-Mail when the system has resumed after a powerloss ?

I know it is possible, since my Synology Diskstation can do it (which is how I got the idea in the first place). Sadly I'm not able to reverse-engineer how it does it.

Question: I'm playing with IPv6 and converting it to IPv4 and vice-versa.

I wanted to access http://127.0.0.1/

And did the standard ipv4 to ipv6 calculation: AA = 127 BB = 0 CC = 0 DD = 1

with the schema

0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:AABB:CCDD

which got me:

0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:7F00:0001

so I tried

http://[:::::ffff:7F00:1]

But it didn't display anything. With a bit of googling, I found out that i need

http://[::1]/

to access the loopback interface with IPv6.

Now I wasn't too much surprised, since the loopback interface might be a special case. But then I tried to access my public file server at:

http://88.84.21.77/

Which I calculated the IPv6 address to be

http://[::ffff:5854:154d]/

But it did not resolve, too.

Now my question: Am I doing anything wrong with the conversion, or does it not work that way.

Or might that be because of my server or ISP not supporting IPv6 ? My server runs under Ubuntu 9.04, with all the necessary patches.

What methods are there to make the Linux filesystem case-INSENSITIVE ?

I have asp.net applications developed on Windows, but there are always issues with capitalization/spelling on mono when putting it on Linux.
