This is probably a simple question, we have an Ubuntu (10.04) LAMP server running a website created with iWeb. Images uploaded by iWeb are viewable, but images uploaded via ftp to the site with universal read/execute permissions do not appear. When I go to the URL of the image itself, however, the image shows up fine. We used to use a different server, on which the images showed up without a problem...
Is there still some kind of permissions error?

I recently learned how to set up a multi-seat Linux machine, this appears to be the only cost-effective solution for the small school that would use this as a tiny computer lab. However, most students are not familiar with the Linux interface, and we need certain Windows software.
So, my thought was that a multi-seat framework could be set up with a lightweight Linux distribution, with each user running Windows through VirtualBox with Windows getting most of the disk space and computer power. Is this possible? If it is, how powerful a computer would I need to make it viable for say 8 users?
Is it possible to set up a computer (preferably a mac pro) so that multiple users can log in at once, each on their own display with a different keyboard and mouse? We need this for a school setup in which 6-10 students will be using the same number of monitors and accounts connected to the central machine. The main goal is to have one central, easily updated machine and to save significantly on costs while running Mac OS X. Any other solutions to these requirements would also be welcome.
I can program, install hardware, or learn anything else fast if necessary.

I have an old computer running Ubuntu 10.04. I installed a LAMP server on it and it works fine; however, the computer is connected to the internet through a large network connected to one modem. I have the ip address of the computer/server for our network, and it works fine, but I need this server to be accessible from the internet, anywhere. I have the ip address of the modem, but using it returns a "server not found" error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
