Trying to add a VLAN to an existing network_
However a show IP route does not show the route for the 172.19.38.0 subnet, and I cannot ping 172.19.38.2
What am I missing?
We are changing our Internet Circuit to a new ISP. During testing I have both circuits, plus a failover circuit connected to our WatchGuard XTM515
I can browse the Internet, and Ping via the new circuit. However if I create a BOVPN tunnel with the new circuit, the System Manager tells me that the tunnel is created, but I only get sent bytes on the the local end, no received bytes. The remote end shows sent and received.
WatchGuard Tech Support says they see the ESP (Protocol 50) packets leaving the local end, and arriving at the remote end, they also see them leaving the remote end, but not arriving back at the local end. This points at the ISP blocking the return path or a routing error.
The ISP says they do not block any ports, and that it is not their issue, but a firewall config issue.
How do I identify where the issue lies to get them to make it work?
Both ends are WatchGuard XTM firewalls. There are four ISP's in play here: one at the remote end; the new one I am testing, the old one I want to disconnect; and a DSL that we use for failover. The Old ISP and the DSL both work fine, only the New one has the issue.
A remote office had a power outage tonight. When the power came up, both the Physical DC and the Physical ESXi Server came up. Connecting to vSphere, I can see the HP-VSA has started, but the other guests say Unknown, and the log states that the configuration cannot be found. The VMs' LUNS are hosted on the VSA I have tried rescan-all for the Storage and Storage adapter.
A quick google indicates that the Rescan should work.
I have a call in to my support engineer, but figured I check here while I wait.
I have a group of users who get "Not Responding" in the title bar of Outlook 2011 for 30-90 seconds at various times throughout the day. I have used the Outlook Connectivity Tool from MS's website to verify that the remote PCs have not Connectivity issues, and found none. The Exchange/Windows Logs do not revel anything obvious to me. Looking at the Network, the Firewalls do not show that they are dropping any packets, the bandwidth seems to hover are 10-15%, except when the SAN is doing a remote snapshot, which pushes bandwidth to 40-45% for 5-10 minutes. I have Deleted the OSTs of these users, and even upgraded two users' PCs as part of our upgrade process, and the problem remains. I cannot find any pattern in the size of the mailboxes (some are large, some are small), or when the delay happens. The only thing the users have in common is that they are all in a remote office connected via a 10MB VPN. However the majority of users at that site do not have the issue.
I'm out of things to check. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Would a CAS server at the remote site help?
We cannot send mail to one particular domain. When we do, we get a 'message delayed' message from Exchange, then a #550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired ## message from Exchange. I can send to that domain from gmail.com. I can do a local nslookup for the MX record, and ping the host from the MX record. When I try to telnet to host.domain.com 25, I get a 220 response with all asterisks. Helo and Ehlo both trigger a response '500 What? I don't understand'
The domain did experience a firewall issue last weekend, but the sysadmin there says that the firewall has been replaced, and is working properly, and my PING tests seem to support that. He insists that there have been no changes to their mail server.
Any ideas?
We are on Exchange 2007
I've got a client PC that CAN ping the server, but not connect to the share via 'My Computer' This happens with only one server, the Client can connect to shares on other servers. The Client will try for a moment, then say that the target is unavailable.
Security on this particular share is 'Everybody' has Read/Write/List. Other Clients can connect fine.
I've verified Name resolution via NSLOOKUP and PING and both are successful.
I've tried both \computername\sharename and \ipaddress\sharename and neither work.
The Client is XP Pro SP3. The Server is WinNT SP6 (I know, I know, but it supports an legacy app that will not run under Win2K3/2k8, the server is running under a VM) I have 20 other XP Clients that CAN connect, and this Client can connect to at least 4 other servers, although I do not have any other WinNT servers to test, so I'm testing against 2K3/2K8 servers.
Any Ideas?
When I try to RDP to a Windows 2003 server, sometimes after I enter the login credentials, I see the background color of the desktop, but no icons, and no taskbar. Sometimes disconnecting from RDP, and then reconnecting solves it, but I don't see any issues in the Event Logs.
I know the machine is up, as it presents the login screen, and if I put a bad password, or a user name that does not have the rights to login remotely, it tells me. But when I put a good password in, it just hangs on the background.
Any Ideas on what to check?

We have a Windows 2000 Server, running Terminal Services in Application Server Mode.
When I start and RDP session to it, I can select to map my local drives to the server, but they are not available from within the RDP session. When I connect to other servers, the drives are available. Now the other servers are Windows 2003/2008 and are running in Administrative Mode, not Application Server Mode, so I'm not sure if either of these are the cause.

We host the DNS for our domain.
Two weeks ago, the developer requested that we setup a new zone 'dev.ourdomain.com' and place two host records in it my.dev.ourdomain.com and admin.dev.ourdomain.com.
We added the zone to our DNS and added A records for the host.
Now a week later, some DNS servers like google (8.8.8.8) and gtei (4.2.2.2) will resolve the hosts, but others like OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 ) and ATT Uverse (68.94.156.1) cannot resolve it.
Any Ideas?
We are using Exchange 2007 for our mail. In our configuration, we need to add an alias to each users mailbox. When we do, the Edge server, another Exchange 2007 box, will reject the alias with a User Unknown error until the next morning.
I seem to recall that in Exchange 2003, you could force an update from the Management console, but I can not find a way in 2007. It is obvious that a sync job is scheduled to run each night, but I cannot find it.
We are trying to apply a new certificate to our IIS webserver. However, whenever I go to IIS's admin interface and select the new cert, any browser requests come back with a "Connection Interrupted" Error, If I put the old cert back, it works.
The Old cert is a GoDaddy SSL "named" cert, ie web.domain.com while the new one is a wildcard cert, also from GoDaddy. The server is Windows 2003, with IIS 6.0.

I have an old Mac-server that our marketing department uses as a File-server for several Mac Clients. I want to get rid of it for several reasons:
What I'd like to do is present a Share from either a Windows or an HP-UX server. However the existing files use characters that are invalid on the other OS's. We could write scripts to rename them, but we are concerned that the files are linked to other files internally, and renaming the file would break the link (think of an HTML file that links to a JPG, rename the JPG, and the link is broke)
So how do we rename the files, while preserving the linkages? Is there a better way?
The Mac-Server is OS X Server 10.0, I'm not sure about the clients, but they are newer (about a year or two old).
I have a user who uses Word as his e-mail editor. Often when replying to an e-mail, he'll insert his comments into the body of the original e-mail. Since he is using Word as the editor, these show as [User Name] Comment Text in a contrasting color. However, some users see the comments in their Outlook, and others do not. I've tried Selecting/DeSelecting Word as the e-mail editor on the recipients, and it does not seem to make a difference.
We are using Exchange 2007 with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 clients along with a few Entourage Clients. There does not seem to be a pattern related to which client is used, but Entourage seems to be more likely to have the problem.

We have a website that has an SSL Certificate from GoDaddy. Our Japanese Office is reporting that some of their clients cannot access the secure site via their mobile phone. Apparently one of the major carriers does not have root certs for GoDaddy.
Other than picking a cert from another vendor, what are our options?
Update: The reason we cannot easily change the cert vendor is the site is hosted by our software vendor, so I'm sort of at their mercy.
We are investigating replacing an existing SQL2000 server on Windows2003 (32Bit) with new hardware and a newer version.
We are looking at an application that requires at least SQL2005, but will run on SQL2008 as well. Our other DB's should run on either as well.
Has anyone had any experiences good or bad with either version?
The Hardware we are likely to get will be 64bit capable, so running SQL2008 64 bit is an option as well.

We have a database that was developed in SQL2008. We want to put it into production. Unfortunately, our Production DB Server is SQL2000.
What is the best way to migrate the DB.
Note the DB is simply a collection of Datatables that have been created from our ERP system. There are no Stored Procedures/Triggers, and nothing fancy about the data, so I'm not worried about running into an issue where the DB is using new features that 2000 won't handle.

We often RDP into our servers. Sometimes if we end the RDP session via Start, Shutdown, Log-off, the server restarts.
It seems to happen when the server is waiting for a report due to a patch pushed out via WSUS, but we may be waiting for a maintainence window before rebooting.
Nothing quite like the cold-sweat when you notice that your production SQL Server or Exchange mail store is rebooting in the middle of the day!
Our work around is to just disconnect, not log off, but this causes issues with the next user who needs to log in.
In another Question many users recommend FlexWiki for Network Documentation. FlexWiki.com appears to be down. I was able to download the latest package from sourceforge.net, but cannot find installation instructions.

We've got an IIS server that hosts about a dozen small websites. A couple of the websites do not log activity. We've gone into the IIS Admin console and each website is configured to log daily into Drive:\logs\w3svcXXXX\ where XXXX is the numberic site ID. We've stopped/started the websites in question, and even restarted the IIS Service. But we do not get any log files. We've looking the the Server's Event Viewer, and there are no relevant events.
Configuration: Windows 2K3 with IIS 6.
