I recently tried out snikket on one of my android devices, but then removed it. A couple days later, I noticed there are some S2S connections to "push.snikket.net".

I am using Ejabberd. How can I remove this connection permanently? I've tried sudo ./ejabberdctl stop_s2s_connections but that doesn't seem to remove it completely. Thanks.

I'm running Dovecot 2.2 (via Mail-in-a-Box) on Ubuntu (LAN) and have several Samsung devices with the stock Email app. All are running the same version. Sometimes, I notice that if I'm deleting email throughout the day, I'll check one and notice one of the emails is still there as unread, while it's gone on all other devices (even gone from desktop clients running emClient).

Pull-down refresh does not sync it. The only way is to either 1) read/delete the message again, or 2) force the app to re-sync by changing a sync-period, by which it forces the app to re-sync.

I understand the Samsung Email app isn't great, and before I switch to another app, is there anything that can be done about this quirk? Are there any optimal settings for Dovecot? The issue happens entirely on LAN, and wifi signal is excellent. Thanks.

I have two older Win 2003 R2 servers acting as DNS, named DNS1 and DNS2. I have two Windows 10 Pro, hard-wired, same network, latest patches. One is a laptop and one is a desktop.

The desktop can ping and access shares on DNS1 and DNS2. DNS1 and DNS2 can also ping the desktop PC. All works fine here.

The laptop cannot ping DNS1 and DNS2, nor can DNS1 and DNS2 ping the laptop. It says the request could not find the host. This happens whether the laptop is connected via ethernet or wifi.

The laptop can ping/access everything else (every other PC is newer than 2003 R2). The issue is only between the Win 10 laptop and the two 2003 DNS servers.

When I run ipconfig /all on the laptop, I noticed that NetBIOS over Tcpip is always disabled (even if I force enable it) on the laptop, but enabled on the desktop. Also, while I am still running a WINS server, the laptop is not showing this, while the desktop is.

I've read that SMBv1 is deprecated in recent versions of Windows 10, but what I don't understand is why the desktop PC is working fine but the laptop is not - even though both are fully updated. Thanks!

I've tried several existing and new instances of various Ubuntu server instances (12.04 LTS - 13.10). The host is an old desktop I've converted to a host, and is a C2D E6550 with 8GB DDR2.

Basically, if the Ubuntu guests are in an "off" state, and I boot them, they boot normally. The issue is, every time I do a reboot (not a reset), they never come back up. The guest CPU will peg at 100% and never come up. If I turn it off and restart the guest, it comes back up. It's ONLY on reboot. It will get past the GRUB loader and then it sits on a black screen forever, with the CPU pegged.

I have an AMD VM host, 4GB DDR2, and it has no issues rebooting the same instances. I also have a newer Core i7 desktop and it too has no issues rebooting. It's just this E6550 machine.

Windows instances have no issue at all. Just Ubuntu (I've tried Centos but never could get it to boot).

The same machine previously was a Windows 2012 (not R2) server with a Hyper-V role, running the same guests, and don't recall it having this same issue.

Does something in the BIOS need to be adjusted? I have no CPU compatibility modes enabled, and all setups are defaults. Disks are IDE. All OSes are 32-bit.

EDIT: I tried x64 13.10 instance and it works normally. It seems to be only 32-bit. I was using 32-bit mainly due to the small amount of RAM required/needed for these instances.

I've had a solid connection to my home VPN server (windows 2012) from my office (windows 8.1) for days over PPTP and have had no issues.

This morning, I had to hard-shutdown my server due to an unrelated issue and reboot it. The issue is, on my office PC, I can suddenly no longer connect to it. It just hangs on "connecting" and eventually times out. IP and other settings have stayed the same. I have GRE and port 1723 forward in the firewall.

I'm not too advanced with VPN, so I'm not sure exactly what else it could be. Other devices outside of my network can connect just fine. I don't believe anything on the office network changed because it was working fine up until I rebooted my home server. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm not sure when, but I've noticed as of recently, whenever I go to make a snapshot of certain machines, it hangs at 2% for a good while and then eventually finishes (fairly quickly, actually). I don't believe I noticed it before. Is it waiting for something else to finish?

I've also noticed that sometimes during a reboot of the guest machine, it takes an equal amount of time to stop the guest before rebooting.

I disabled the DNS/DHCP on my router and activated those services on a Windows 2008 server. Everything is working fine, but when I go to browse the network none of the machines can see any other machines, whereas they could when DNS/DHCP was handled by the router. All client settings are the same.

I'm unsure what actually drives this lookup for Windows. What is it and how can I enable it in Windows 2008 DNS or DHCP?

I recently upgraded to windows 2012 server and am curious about the difference between storage spaces and simply creating a dynamic volume from the three drives. Basically, I have 3 hard drives I'd like to pool together to act as one. I already use a cloud backup on top of this so I don't need to have failover - I just want to have it appear as one volume.

So, what are the differences and when should I use each?

It seems I had someone trying to perform brute-force login attempts on my SQL 2005 server. As a result, the log file has grown to about 55 gigs and sits in C:\Windows\SYSMSI\SSEE\MSSQL.2005\MSSQL\Data.

The file itself is called WSS_Content_0b8dae5814114114b874e35ea7ba795b_log.LDF and appears to be currently used.

I'm unclear on how to clear or truncate this LDF file. Thanks!
