I recently got some U server price quotes and some of them include BBWC:

  • What exactly does it do?
  • Is it just for RAID configurations?
  • If there is a power malfunction, isn't the data loss inevitable?
  • Are there any performance improvements from it (assuming the server will mostly do sequential reads and sequential writes)?
  • What affected your decision when you faced the option to buy one?

I have a batch file which calls another batch file that exists in PATH directory (basically calling an executable with additional switches.)

: bar.bat:
foo.bat file1.txt
foo.bat file2.txt
etc.

In foo.bat:

foo.exe -t -s %1

bar.bat executes the first command but exits immidately (i.e. working on file1.txt only).

How can I make this batch file to invoke the other batch file more than once?

After properly configuring FileZilla to communicate between servers, I tried to automate some transfers using Windows builtin FTP support

ftp -s:command.file

I replicated FileZilla's client commands verbatim (using literal) and I get this weird phenomenon:

I'm settling in a new office and except the obvious (PC, screen, mouse, keyboard) and the can't-work-without earphones, tissue box, Philips screwdriver and stack (overflow?) of papers my table looks poor, empty and not functional.


Which tools of the trade do you keep in your desk? What proves useful to keep within an arm's reach?

I am considering to avoid purchase new machines with optical drives. The only caveat is the OS installation which can be messy - to open the case and temporarily hook up DVD which often does not worth the trouble comparing to the price of a drive.

Has anyone tried to install an os from thumb drive? What are the pitfalls? Which tools/guides did you use?

Please also mention the hardware(motherboard etc.) you used
