I want to provide good quality web service to Eastern-Asia and America. Is 1Gbit/s in Seattle sufficient for common web applications and (if possible) real-time messaging, or I should consider another location in US?

I have a web server in Germany connected at 100 MBit. Ping reply to my server from Seattle is ~180ms, from Australia is ~350ms; from London it's ~10-20ms.
Does increasing the bit rate of my server to 1 GBit help to improve my web applications' service quality? Or I should consider to buy VPSs in these countries as reverse proxy and caching layer?

My hosting provider offers me to increase my server's memory from 8gb to 24gb, at the same monthly cost of 3x 120gb SSD.
SSD choice seems more reasonable to me; but im curious if my web application will need in-memory caching after it's running on SSD.
