I have a Dell T320 with an ASUS HyperX M.2 x4 PCI-e card (in a PCI-e 3.0 x16 socket), and two Samsung 970 PRO in it (in slot 1 and slot 2 of Hyper M.2), but under Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS I only see the NVMe device inserted in solot 1 of Hyper M.2. I tried with fdisk -l, and nvme list tools.

Is there any trick to get the slot 2 working under Linux?

We have a server which we inherited from previous sysadmin. Now the RAID-5 (H/W based on IBM ServeRAID) now unusable, saying not enough disks to operate.

On ServeRAID Manager I can see three physical disks, and one logical volume. The logical volume properties says: Data space: 698GB and Parity space: 232GB, from which I guess there should be four disks.

Am I right?

In the server there are three disks physically. (Each are 250GB disk.)
So now I should be sure the logical volume was built up originally from thee or four disks? How can be sure in it? I was unsure on proper meaning of Data space and Parity space in this terminology, if I have to sum them, it means four disks should have been there.

I run a FreeBSD 9.0 server with ZFS pool version 28 and ZFS version 5.
I had two pools with a log on ssd's two partitions. These pools was created on FreeBSD 8.2 with ZFS pool version 15, and ZFS version 4.
After I upgraded to the new zfs version, I tried to remove the SSD log device from both pools both command was successful (no error message). One of the pools was the log removed, but the other still there, I down the server removed the ssd physically, and hoped it will be forgot by the zpool.
The zpool became degraded as ssd was missing. I tied to remove again. No error message, but the log device entry still there. After it, to became the pool online again, I created a file on the root UFS partition and replaced the missing to device to this file. It was successful, the pool again online. However I can't remove the log device from the pool.

Where can I have to look for error messages? (in dmesg there is nothing about it, also the zfs remove doesn't have any error message, it's seem like it was successful.

I have a FreeBSD 8.2-RELEASE system which I now upgrading to 9.0-RELEASE. In this process I need to rebuild all my ports installed.
How can I list the date of last build for each installed port, to be sure, everything was rebuilt now.
I used portmaster -af to rebuild everything, but when some build error happens, I continue with the command it gives in the end (with names of the folloing packages in its argument), but I would like to be sure that everything was rebuilt now.

How can I perform a filesystem check on ext3 partition on linux?
I am looking for a solution that check every file on the filesystem that is it accessible.

UPDATE: I would run it on a server without unmounting the drive.

We have a cyrus 2.4.12 on Debian, we use packages, rather than building each software ourselves.

I am getting the this "log" constantly, a lot of, various users, and 8-10 times per user request:

fetching user_deny.db entry for 'user123'

I have searched for it, but haven't found a real solution, there were some patches for 2.3.xx, but we don't want ot build it, we prefer to use packages.

Is there any solution to disable the user_deny.db at all. We don't need this feature. It wastes the CPU as disk.

I would like to apply a date based custom filename for apache2 log files, which I want to use for clickheat. In the example it writes:

CustomLog "clickheat.%Y-%m-%d-%H" "%r" env=clickheat

But for me it creates a file with name clickheat.%Y-%m-%d-%H the variables are not substituted.

I have not found in apache2 docs which parameter should I enable or set.

I have an Apache/2.2.21 (Debian) webserver, which I disabled directory listing with Options -Indexes but now I got 404 error for a directory, but I think I should get a 403.

I have no idea why I get 404, rather than 403. What should I check?

I have disabled autoindex module, after it I got a 404 for every URL that request a directory listing (eg: www.somesite.com/dir ). How can I get a 403 for this. (The dir does exist)

As a try I also put Options -Index in the end of main config file (apache2.conf).

From the logs we see on our server that a plenty of requests comes to access upload.php (eg.: /plugins/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/tinybrowser/upload.php), or a plenty of varions for setup.php for phpMyAdmin.

These are 404 errors in the log, because we don't have these exact URLs, however, we would feel safer if we could deny all potential attack of this type.

So I would like to deny every requests which contains setup.php or upload.php on my Apache2 webserver.

We have several (hundreds) of VirtualHost, and I would prefer not to write hundreds of times the directive to deny these filenames in every VirtualHost.

Question: How can I do it the globally on the server?

I have Samba 3.5.11 on Debian/kfreebsd sid. (Also tested with 3.6.1 from experimental)
I have a zfs filesystem Storage/Photos.
If I open one the the folders on there (Storage/Photos/folder1) it shows (on Windows 7, Total Commander):

• file1.jpg
• file2.jpg
• file2.jpg

So I see the same file several times in Total Commander (and Windows Explorer as well).
Sometimes the Thumbs.db comes up 20-30 pieces.
I don't know where to start, what can be the problem?

How can I use ACLs on a ZFS filesystem under Debian/kFreeBSD?

and it returns:

setfacl: /Storage/TestFile1: Function not implemented

I would like to use it as a fileserver, with samba.

I am looking for a filtering solution to be able to filter Live Messenger traffic according "with who" they are chatting.
We use Messenger for work, but some of collegues gets a lot of "out of work" messages during work time.

I would like to restrict the messenger traffic according to the contacts email, or UID.

I have found a possible solution, but I couldn't even start it, and seems a bit outdated.
