It seems we have reached a limit as to how many Windows Services that can be running at a time. We have about 70 running services, when we try to add another we get the 1053 Error. I've tried the fix that adds the ServicesPipeTimeout registry key but that didn't help. If I stop a service (like Print Spooler), I can start another. Ideas?

ADDENDUM: The Service I'm trying to start is a duplicate of 20+ other services. They all just have a different name. I also have as many as 70 of these services on other servers, and they aren't causing any trouble. BTW, these services are IntraWeb Web servers.

I have been using the "EnableLinkedConnections" registry setting below for years with no trouble. But lately with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, sometimes it doesn't work. I need to run some programs with administrative privileges but they cant see drives mapped as a standard user when this is the case. Does anyone know why this no longer works? Or if there is a work around? Disabling UAC is not an option. Thanks

Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System Create a new parameter (DWORD type) with the name EnableLinkedConnections and the value 1

I can use takeown.exe to give the currently logged in user ownership of a folder. But when I try:

takeown /s jimswork8 /u Everyone /f c:\test /R /D Y

It just gives ownership to the currently logged in user. I CAN do it if I use the UI, so I would think it is possible, but I just can't get the syntax right.

We've got numerous Windows 7 machines that will show a mapped network drive as disconnected on boot up. Seems to be all versions of Windows 7 as well. In the "My Computer" windows the mapped drive is visible, but with a RED X on it. If you double click on it, the red X goes away and displays the contents of that share. I don't believe it's a timeout issue (as mentioned in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297684) because this occurs imediately on startup.

Can I use my Microsoft Technet Product Keys after my subscription expires? I'm coming due in a couple of months and I'm not sure if I'll have the 250 to renew. I've search their Technet sites and come up empty.
