I must be missing something, but I can't see any way to stop a certain SharePoint folder from syncing to a user's local OneDrive folder.

Our file servers are almost full because of two users who apparently have a whole site synced to their local OneDrive. And I can't reach them as they're both on vacation.

I have however opened the sharepoint admin center and I can browse their OneDrive, but can't in an easy way see neither folder sizes OR find the synced folder in their user folder. I do see they follow the site though, and I guess the site is being synced. But I can't find a way to remotely stop the sync. Any ideas?

We have this Sharepoint 2010 site with a Document Library that needs to be accessed from a separate system. And this separate system connects to it via a UNC string, such as \intranet\site\folder.

The weird thing is that this works from some computers and server. While others can't resolve the name. And I can't find any correlation for it. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with user permissions either, because I've tried from both my own user as well as domain admin. And it works sometimes, while sometimes it doesn't.

Allthough it does seem to work after ipconfig/renew. As though the DNS name isn't resolved. Could it be related to DNS first and foremost? The sharepoint server has it's own record A in the DNS.

I've got this share where I want to restrict access to two folders so that only members of a group can get access to them. I've done this countless of times, but this time there's something odd going on.

The root folder has these permissions set:

SYSTEM - Full access
Administrator - Full Access
Administrators (FILE01\Administrators) - Full Access
All in sales dpt (SALENET\All in sales dpt) - Full Access

This is so that everyone can get access to the root folder Every subfolder has activated inheritable permissions from object's parent. But not the two folders I want to restrict permissions for!

So, these two folders have turned off inheritable permissions from object's parent. And also have these permissions set:

    SYSTEM - Full access
    Administrator - Full Access
    Administrators (FILE01\Administrators) - Full Access
    testgroup (SALENET\testgroup) - Full Access

Now, my test user is a member of the testgroup. But still, this folder doesn't show up. But if I manually add the test user directly to the permissions, it works right away. So why doesn't it work when adding the group? I tried to log off and on again, but that didn't do anything. Do I have to restart the file server in order to make this work?

Might be worth mentioning that these folders, test user and both groups are newly created. And no restart has been made on either domain controllers nor file servers. But I did restart my own client, as I mentioned. What's causing this? And why does it happen?

So I have this SharePoint 2007 site that is basically trash. I'm supposed to just toss it, but I'm in need of copying all of the data in form of traditional files and folders from certain projects. And since the transaction log is full, it's so damn slow.

Even opening SharePoint takes up to 15 minutes, or it won't open at all. Copying of files is extremely slow. So I'm in need of a quick fix here. Just to be able to copy out some files and folders. I don't need to fix the problem per se.

What can I do to fix it temporarily to be able to copy out the data?

The company I'm working for previously bought a small company who had their own e-mail service via some provider. And now when we're trying to merge them to our domain, we get this error message when we try to send an email to the old address via gmail for example.

What we've done is this: - Add the old email address as an alias in our Exchange - Disclose the email service form the old email provider

When we send an email to the old address via our own Exchange, the email delivers just fine. Just not externally, via gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc.

What is the cause of this? Could it just be a DNS sync issue? That is fixes itself over time?

I'm setting up a WDS server in a domain where it's said that MAK is being used for activation of the Windows 7 clients.

Now, I'm getting this error 0xc004f038 which seems to be related to KMS and not MAK. Now, while googling this I've found that this error might occur if there's DNS records for _VLMCS in the _tcp section of the domain. And this is what's telling the client that there's a KMS server in the domain.

In the DNS I've found two records for VLMCS. And when I log on to these servers and run SLMGR.vbs /dlv I see that KMS is active on both servers. Wouldn't this interfere with MAK activation to Microsoft's servers? Shouldn't KMS be uninstalled for MAK to even work?

The company I'm working for bought another company that's got its own domain. We've connected these together and noticed that both domains have got their own WDS server.

Let's call our primary WDS server WDS1, and the existing one of the domain of the bought company WDS2.

What I'm trying to do now is to boot into WDS1 from the other location. However, only WDS2 is recognized by the PXE boot options. So I'm guessing I have to change the DNS entry or something? Where do I start? I've noticed the old WDS server in the other domain's DNS. I'm not sure if PXE boot is DHCP related and not specifically DNS related?

So I change jobs recently and in this new workplace I've found that we've actually got two DHCP servers. In the very same subnet, and they both have the same scope. I did not set up this but I see there are a lot of IP address conflicts, which must be because they aren't connected to one another in any way. So, this is probably the reason right?

I did however see that there are settings in the DHCP console which is called "Server connection bindings" and there are IP adresses that can be entered there. The IP entered is however the same IP address of itself, the same as 127.0.0.1. I don't know if they should point to one another though.

Now, the way I see it, only one DHCP is needed. OR, we could split the scopes. But I'm not really sure if that's necessary at all really. I mean, we only have a couple of hundred computers in the domain, as well as a bunch of iPhones and other smart phones.

So, am I way off here or should one of them be disabled? Or should I split the scopes?

I noticed a problem when setting up GPOs that some settings were copied to the local computer's registry, while some didn't. Although they are in the very same GPO. So I checked the EventViewer and noticed this error. Also, I checked the sysvol folders on both Domain Controllers and noticed that the files are not the same at all. The version number on the policies are also not the same.

It's a bit similar to Windows Server 2003 SP2 - JRNL_WRAP_ERROR (Sysvol)

But we have two domain controllers that are set up to replicate each other. So I restarted the replication service on both domain controllers and this EventID: 13568 was added to the event viewer almost immediatly. So where should I start to troubleshoot this?

Edit: After reading this link http://blogs.technet.com/b/instan/archive/2009/07/14/what-happens-in-a-journal-wrap.aspx I see that the approach d2 might be the one I should go for. But how do I know which one of the domain controllers is the "newest" one? Should I just compare files from the sysvol folder? Also, what's the worst thing that could happen if I go for approach d2?

Edit2: I just did the approach D2 about half an hour ago. I stopped the file replication service. Reset the registry setting to D2 and restartet the file replication service. Noticed immediatly that the D2 was reset to 0. Then I went ahead and checked the sysvol folder on the server. There's a folder there now called "NtFrs_PreExisting___See_EventLog", but there's no other content there. In the event viewer, I see a 13565 informing me that the replication is starting. But two minutes after, there's a 13508 error. This alone doesn't have to be a bad thing according to the KB article, but in 4 hours, a 13509 should be present. If 13509 isn't present in that time, these are the other possibilities, according to the description in error 13508:

1. FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name dc2.mydomain.com from this computer.
2. FRS is not running on dc2.mydomain.com

3. The topology information in the Active Directory for this replica has not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers.

4. From the problem server, I tried to run ping dc2 and run nslookup and everything checks out just fine from what I can tell. Neither of the domain controllers have Windows Firewall activated. And NTFRSUTL VERSION works just fine on both. Also, Replication Service is active and running on both DCs.

I just set a GPO for the Shared Themes Path for the entire Office 2007 and 2010 suite using the Group Policy: User Policy --> Administrative Templates --> Microsoft Office 2007 System --> Shared paths --> Shared themes path. And the same for Office 2010.

I can see that the settings are applied if I check each Office application. Also, the registry shows these settings as well. But the themes aren't visible when I try applying them using the Design tab. Why is this?

Now, what I just discovered was that somehow, the Document Themes folder is created in the Workgroup folder. Strangely enough, if I copy the theme there, it shows up in all of the applications! Why? I haven't even set that particular location at all. And yes, I'm really sure. Also, the folder that is automatically created in the Workgroup folder is called "Document Themes", while the path I specified via the GPO is "Themes".

Strange?

Also, I noticed that it's actually the Office application themselves that actually create these folders as soon as I open or close on of the Office applications. But not only in the Workgroup folder but also the User folder. Really strange.

Has anyone any experience with this? I mean, I could just NOT set the property at all and just let the themes be in the users profile, as it is by default. But I think it's a messy file path to that location.

I know it is possible to do a restore of a user's mailbox. But does anyone have a really simple way of doing this? Like an Exchange console command or something?

Also, if I understood this correctly, the restore is put in a restore container of some sort? How easy is it to restore that content into the actual mailbox I'm trying to recover?

I've got this SQL Server 2005 Express installation that's got a Database I'm trying to connect to through a software that gives me the error "cannot connect using the user 'mydoimain\myuser'. Meaning, it's trying to connect using my domain user as a default. Which is ok. This is actually what I want. But I want to be able to add users to a group and grand that group permissions to the database instead of specifying each user.

So, I went ahead and created an AD group that I've added myself to. Then I added this AD group in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio under Security/Logins using just one snippet of SQL Query code:

WITH 
   DEFAULT_DATABASE=[MYSQLDatabase];

This added the group under the Security tab. But I still get this error when trying to connect using the software from my client. What else do I need to set? I even tried to click on the newly added group that appeared after running the above query snippet and added every server roles as well. The user has been granted access to the database engine(done by default) and Enabled under Login (done by default).

What am I missing here?
