I'm looking for some direction on how to setup monitoring for RAID and the physical HDDs in ESXi via KNM. Any link or advice would be of great help.
Is there any way to run script before the computer running Windows 7 or 2008 shuts down without using local group policy editor or domain based policy
? Regedit tool should be OK if possible.
I have already 8 drives hooked up the the P800 RAID controller internally. I would like to attach 8 more SATA drives externally. I looked in the documentation but the only thing mentioned for the external ports is HP SAS to Mini Cables
with different length options.
The question is:
I was wondering if there is any Cisco product that supports import of external list with IP ranges to be blocked or allowed.
CIRD format:
# List distributed by ...
123.15.49.0/24
60.166.28.0/24
114.36.130.0/24
195.56.150.0/24
212.117.177.0/24
89.242.30.0/24
87.106.3.0/24
61.235.46.0/24
210.112.12.0/24
The updates would be daily.
Did anyone notice any performance gain while using Remote Desktop via Citrix XenApp 6.0 vs just plain Terminal Services on Windows 2008 Server R2?
I understand that Citrix offers a lot of great features but this question is just about how responsive and fast the Remote Desktop experience is in either environment.
The ping between server and client should be at least 150ms eg. distance should be more than 7000 miles.
I have executed the following command to get better idea of what is holding the port 8443 on server I'm trying to work on and install some new software on it.
C:\Users\Administrator>netstat -abn | find "8443"
TCP 0.0.0.0:8443 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
TCP [::]:8443 [::]:0 LISTENING
Any ideas on how to link this to specific service?
the binary without the find is coming up as:
Can not obtain ownership information
Is there something like Webmin that runs on tomcat and is easy to deploy for Windows operating system?
Lets say I have Spring Framework App that is running on Tomcat and uses MySQL database:
What would be the best solution in this instance that would allow for sociability (price/performance/integration time)?
More precisely: What would be on the Web Load balancer box, and who should be the tomcat web server clustered? What would be on the Database Load balancer box and how should be the database servers clustered? And if at all possible specific technical integration links would be of great help.

I logged into my Microsoft portal to check out if I can migrate my Terminal Services licenses from a 2003 to 2008 server and I got red message saying: "This Licensing ID will expire within 90 days".
What exactly does that error message mean in practical terms? Will I have to purchase new licenses or is it just Software Assurance expiration?

During setup I get several errors like the one bellow and none of the service for SQL server get installed. I did quick google search but it seems like the only solution for resolving this issue is re-installation of the whole system which is not an option. Please if you had this problem and resolved it without any drastic measures, please share it.
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup
The following error has occurred:
Updating permission setting for folder 'D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\' failed. The folder permission setting were supposed to be set to 'D:(A;OICI;FA;;;BA)(A;OICI;FA;;;SY)(A;OICI;FA;;;CO)(A;OICI;0x1200a9;;;BU)'.
Click 'Retry' to retry the failed action, or click 'Cancel' to cancel this action and continue setup.
Server has Smart Array E200 RAID controller with 8x 146GB SAS 10k drives:
I have two logical drives. First set is RAID5 with 3 drives and second set RAID5 with 5 drives.
Is there a way to merge these two sets into one? I don't mind loosing data on the 5 drives so I can just delete that set and attempt to add the drives to the first set.
The main reason for this is that for some reason I can't run all 8 drives and have two RAID5 arrays. One of the logical drives always fails with one drive. It is either the 3 and 4 drives or 2 and 5 drives. It almost seems like the controller does not support 2 RAID5 arrays.
I have project where I have to try to load some old QIC80 tapes and see what's on them. I ordered some tape drives but they work only with Windows 95! Does anyone know about tape drive that reads QIC80 tapes and is recognized by Windows 2003 Server or even Windows XP?
I came across HPs T4000s tape drive but I'm not sure if it will read the QIC tapes. Can anybody confirm?
I'm just being lazy here, but does any one have already writen bash script for stopping tomcat service, archive it's log files (zip would be nice) and reboot the server? (Using logrotate or any other tool)
I want create cron job with following script:
#!/bin/bash
service tomcat stop
# now I don't know what to do with logrotate or something else
init 6
Please help.
