We have 2 offices that we would look to keep our databases in sync with. Unfortunately one of our officers has a really poor connection and doing live SQL replication of the data probably isn't ideal.
The ideal situation would be live schema replication with nightly data replication.
If the ideal isn't possible strictly schema replication would be great.
We have 2 web servers that have used up over 100GB of logging in C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\HTTPERR. Is there a standard way for disabling this logging as it's just filled with Timer_ConnectionIdle.
I'd like to disable this via Group Policy if at all possible.
The servers in question are running Windows Server 2008 R2.
I have a Server 2008 R2 server with ADDS installed. I'm trying to configure HP's ILO utility to connect to it over SSL. I installed the Active Directory Certificate Service, after doing so I'm still not able to connect to LDAP over SSL.
I checked the event log and it's showing warnings with Event ID 36886 saying that there aren't default credentials yet. I'm not too sure why this is happening. I haven't done anything with ADCS other than installing the service do I need to create a certificate for the server?
I'm connected to our remote data center via RRAS VPN which is running as a Domain Controller. The client I'm connecting with is on our local domain.
Once I'm connected to the remote domain using my credentials all local resources become unavailable. I'm able to contact them and ping them, however if I use Windows Authentication it fails to authenticate.
Is there anyway I can be able to be VPN'd into the remote domain and authenticate with the local and remote domains?
I currently have a Server 2008 server at the office and a Server 2008 R2 server at a Data Center. Both have RRAS installed for PPTP VPN access.
The office server is behind a router, is there a way to have the office RRAS server (or router) connect persistently to the Data Center VPN server so I can create a trust?
I have a Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server with 4 NICs. 2 are teamed for LAN 2 are teamed for WAN. This server has the Active Directory Domain Services, DNS and RRAS roles installed.
It seems that Windows is detecting the public (WAN) connection is a Domain Connection.
Is there anyway to change this to be a public connection and not domain?
I've setup Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard running the DNS, ADDS and RRAS roles called DC01. I've also setup another Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard server running the Web Server roled called WEB01.
I've setup RRAS to assign from a static pool of IPs (192.168.2.200 ~ 192.168.2.220). Once connected using the Built-in PPTP client in Windows I am properly assigned an IP. Once connected however I can't seem to ping/connect to any servers on the LAN with the DC01 box.
The DC01 server has a public NIC and a private NIC.
Most of the configuration for RRAS is vanilla and I haven't changed very much.
How do I set RRAS up in a way that I can access servers on the LAN by IP and by DNS?
I'm going to be setting up a network at a data center and I was wondering if it's possible to have Windows Server 2008 R2 act as a VPN server.
Also, I've heard there are 3 main types of VPN: PPTP, L2TP/IPSec and SSTP. After some investigation it looks like to allow native (OS level) support for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows I would use PPTP or L2TP/IPSec. I also read that L2TP is more secure than PPTP, is this true?
Lastly, is it a good idea to install the VPN server on the primary domain controller (PDC), if not, why?
Is there a way to disable all users except your user from logging into your PC when you're part of a Windows Server 2008 Active Directory domain?

I'm more of a developer then an IT guy and I was wondering if there are any existing Microsof tools for monitoring servers and potentially SQL Server.
We have access to MSDN so anything created by Microsoft would be preferred.
At work our ISP has given us a block of IPs and I was wondering how I go about mapping them. Currently out setup is that the ISPs fiber goes into out router which is then routed throughout the office.
They have given us the following information...

Usable IP Range: x.x.x.x - x.x.x.x

I was wondering how I go about mapping this information to our router. I'm not expecting anyone to give me a step by step guided tour but what information I should be looking to set on the router's configuration.
Once setup is it possible to allow a computer on the network behind the firewall to utilize all of these IPs for binding requests to?
EDIT: The end goal is to have one server that can bind outgoing requests to different IPs assigned to me from the ISP. One and only one server needs this and it will be behind the router. It's currently running Windows Server 2008. It still needs to access internal network resources. So I don't need a specific IP to be routed to a computer internally. I just want to be able to bind a request to one of the IPs given to me from my ISP.
