I know, I'm using an old fedora version so please don't comment on that. I just want to know if anybody could help install libssl-dev in fedora7. Per my search, it seems that libssl-dev has no rpm for fedora 7 or any fedora version.
Can someone give me hints as to how to proceed?

We're currently planning on dual booting some of our servers (different IP and hostnames). So, is it possible in nagios to put a condition wherein a dual boot machine won't send an alarm signal provided that the dual boot OS is up?

I'm maintaining a heterogeneous network of mac and linux so I decided to create a little perl script to unify mounting strategies across machines.
Actually, I already have a working perl script, however, the password seems is part of the command line which I don't like:
mount_smbfs -d 755 -f 755 //username_here:[email protected]/cifs_share
Tried reading the man pages for mount_smbfs and nsmb.conf but I am still confused as to how to move forward.
My machines are Snow Leopard, Leopard and Lion machine.

The current implementation in linux is in /etc/fstab works fine:
//myserverhere.com/cifs_share /mnt/cifs_share cifs user,uid=65001,rw,workgroup=DEV,credentials=/root/.cifs 0 0
and /root/.cifs contains
username=ouruser
password=ourpassword
I tried translating that to a non-fstab format as follows:
mount.cifs //myserverhere.com/cifs_share /mnt/cifs_share user,uid=65001,rw,workgroup=DEV,credentials=/root/.cifs
But it doesn't seem to work.
Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong please?
