I have an application server which runs pervasive SQL and app using it. Last weeks the users are complaining about poor performace of the app and I suspect disk I/O problems because CPU and RAM usages are just fine.

Here are my resource monitor graphs and if you could please tell me how to properlly read them and if I have problems with disk I/O.

• Disk C: - system disk
• Disk E: - application with all its data

We host one web app on our server and the domain for this app is registerd at our isp and also the DNS records are there. From our company computers the app is accessible via internal IP (let's say IP A), and the outside adrress for this server is sometihg else (let's call it IP B).

What I want is that the domain for the app is resolved into ip A, when we are browsing on our company computers.

So when I sit at my company computer I want get the following:

• thing.com -> ip B (our domain must still resolve into ip B)
• some.thing.com -> ip A (only this subdomain must resolve into ip A)10.64.16.60
• no.thing.com -> ip B (any other subdomain for thing.com must resolve into ip B)

We are runing windows 2008 server with AD and DNS installed. If I add new zone "thing.com" under Forward Lookup Zones and then add A record for "some" which points to ip A, then it works as desired for "some.thing.com", but for anything else it doesn't.

We have an legacy but very important app running on windows server 2003. App itself doesn't support any kind of HA and it's not the most reliable piece of software. Last week we had a special emergency when OS on application server crashed and it didn't go up again.

As far as I know when you use vmware HA the vmware keeps running two VM's which are perfect copies and are totally synchronized. So I wonder what happens if app or os crashes in one copy of VM, does this mean that it also crashes in another ? But in this case HA doesn't make any sense. How about OS updates if one update breaks the app ?

Can you please enlighten me on how does relly work this vmware HA and what against it protects.

I wann't to move my sql server onto virtualized platform (Vsphere, esxi 4.1). Here is my plan on how would I install it:

• Vm with 3 disk's. C: for windows and sql binaries, D: for sql data, E: for logs
• All disk on different datastores
• Disks D: and E: are independen't so snapshoot's won't effect them
• Root folder for every instance is on default path (C:\program files...)
• data and log folder is moved onto D: and E: disk

Ram and cpu cores will be added as needed.

Is there a way to monitor and graph CPU, RAM usage and dik I/O for let's say 24h to get some info about load on the server (with built-in windows tools).

Will this work fine and do you have any special tips&trciks ? Best regards, Primoz.

I tried simple test setup with just two disk C: for installation and D: for data and logs and with 2 vCPU's and 6GB of ram. With my test suite I have push the cpu usage to 90%+ and ram usage to 98%. So I'm guessing that this means that disk is fast enough and that I'm limited by CPU and RAM ?

Where can I get "AS/400 Client Access Express for Windows"?

Is this free (in terms of money) software and where can I download it? I couldn't find any workable download link.

I need this SW, because client wants to replace their old workstations with new one and they need this to run their bussines (to connect to some other company's mainframe). Problem is that they lost their install CD and that the other company won't get them another or so they say.

So there is no chance to download this from the internet ?

I'm using citrix web client to access some apps and from them I can't print to my network printer. Citrix redirects my local usb atached printer just fine, but it doesn't redirect my network printer.

What do I need to do, that I will be able to use my network printer from citrix ?

How to enforce autologin not just first time when computer boots, but even if user click logoff.

So when user clicks logoff, he is imidiatly loged back.

Is there any difference in hardware support between ESX and ESXi ? I heard that ESX shuold support much more hardware than ESXi. Is that true ?

So what is the difference ?

If I use diskpart tool then they talking about volumes (list volume, select volume, ...). But If I use WMI then there is win32_logicalDisk class.
