I have a few Windows XP clients that are part of a domain, when trying to set the permissions on the security tab and pressing location to search the AD for users it only presents the local machine...
So I follow this path
Right click folder > Properties > Security > Add
in the locations field where I would normally see the windows domain, I am only seeing the local machine name???
So only users that have a local account can be added to the folders permissions...
Any tips would be appreciated

Right here is the problem, we have recently updated all our desktops to the MS Office 2007 suite and people have issues trying to open simple files like word documents...
the systems are
Windows XP (SP3)
Novell Network with novell client
Office 2007
when they try to open a word document from a usual network share word presents a message reporting
Access Denied Contact Administrator
So we assumed network permissions, none of which have changed...so try the same file with Wordpad and it opens fine, be it with formating issues of course...
Now copy the file to your desktop, which is not redirected, and you can open the file in word as normal...
so does anyone know if office 2007 uses some new permission when opening files? does it create temps or something...
any pointers would be appreciated
I am trying to find plugins or configuration settings to monitor Novell clustered services and was wondering if anyone has done this before or has any info they can share
The system I am trying to monitor runs as two servers accessing configuration files stored on a NAS which in turn presents LUNS using iSCSI over a VLAN. All connections etc work, I am just after getting Nagios to monitor the cluster status, right now we monitor the servers using Nagios with simple ping and standard setting for linux Nagios config so we know if the server is up but we don't know anything regarding the services.
Here is what we currently run for clustered service
Both servers are running Novell OES (Open Enterprise Server) on SLES (Suse Linux Enterprise Server)
Clustered services are (the config files are on the NAS VLAN)
We have a LAMP server running Nagios Version 3.1.2 which is working a treat for basic connection tests to servers, switches and printer but I would like to make it do more
Hope that all makes sense and sorry if its already been posted elsewhere, I could not find anything for Novell clustered services.
